IN WHICH,
there are nightmares and a boy.

-

I walk up the
Stairs to the
Astronomy Tower,
And find someone
Already there.

Not wanting to disturb
Them,
I move towards
A dark,
Anonymous
Corner —
Not very sure
If I'm making any noise
Or not.

However,
They don't turn
Towards me,
So I curl up in that corner,
and drift away
from this mute place.

To my dreams I go,
And I can hear once more.

I hear more than
Colours and thoughts,
I hear voices.

And something is
stirring in my memory,
Something quite far away,
Two metals clashing together,
A pop sound —
The most fateful one
Which broke my eardrums.

My mother's voice,
And my father's,
Arguing,
Someone wishing me a
"Happy birthday."

"Away,"
The last word I ever heard
Echoing in my mind,
Fucking it up,
I'm losing control,
The voice in my head
sounds like my stepmother's now.

"Away,"
"Away,"
"Away,"
"Away,"
There it comes,
With the whistling wind,
And I can't hear anything
Else.

Until,
I feel a soft touch,
And my sensitive skin
Makes me jerk awake.

Someone with white-blonde,
Calm hair,
Is scribbling something into
my notebook,
Are you okay?

The three words again,
And the only person
They ever came from.

I nod,
"I'm fine."

I always am.
