IN WHICH,
there is a case study of love.

T/W: Stabbing, abuse.

-

Have you ever
                             had a stepmother?

She probably loves you
like she should,
Like you're everything.

I had a stepmother too,
And the story of my deafness
And her are deeply entangled.

I'm eleven at
Twelve midnight,
And as the clock strikes,
I hear creeping
In the kitchen.

There's a noise,
Like metal against metal
Being played like you
Play a violin.

I was happy —
I was eleven.

"Finally,
You'll
Go
Away,"
My stepmother
tells me.

And there's a knife
In my ear,
And then my other ear
Is bleeding too.

I try to scream,
But breathing isn't an option
Anymore.

And neither is
Hearing.

My stepmother said something,
But I couldn't hear.

And the next day,
I got to know I
Was deaf,
Because of an
Accident on the
Road.

So was our house the
Road —
Was there a home
Along the road
And not just a
House?

My father
Believed my stepmother,
He loved her,
And me too.

But it was always
More of her.

And,
        I'm not complaining,
        I don't want anyone's
        Love.

Love is the trickiest
Conspiracy of all,
A spider web —
The most intricately woven,
A beautiful thing,
To the innocent;
And the most terrible
Conspiracy,
To those who got trapped
In it;
In the beauty of it,
Until,
The real thing,
The spider,
Appeared.

But
Did I really deserve
The constant ache
In my heart,
Because I couldn't
Hear him,
Because I couldn't
Hear Draco Malfoy?
