Jacob peeped In on Tinsley and smiled when he saw she was awake. “How is my favorite patient?” he asked as he crossed the room and stood by her zebra covered bed.
“Tired.” she mumbled as she tried to keep her green eyes open.
He chuckled. “I can imagine so. Lisa and I have you on enough pain medication to sedate a small Nigerian army.”
Tinsley rolled her eyes. “and enough bed rest to make me sleep the year away.”
Jacob nodded in agreement. “We felt you needed it and Bryten agrees with us."
Tinsley smiled and rolled on her back.
“I haven't seen Dr. Bryten in three days.” she commented. “He's not my doctor anymore, so his opinion doesn't matter, therefore; you should let me see Sammy. I know she is worried.” she sassed. She had become much more confident over the last few days. Why wouldn't she? She had been to the brink of breaking and back.
Jacob chuckled. It was true she hadn't seen Bryten in three days, but he couldn't tell her why. Bryten had Tinsley mentally accessed by Lisa and he was correct; there was nothing wrong with her mentally. In most cases that means the patient would be refunded their money and allowed to leave, but in Tinsley's case that was a little different. She didn't have a home to return to or any support from anywhere else, so she was a unique case.
Bryten had called a family meeting for this morning and Jacob was eager to find out what plan he had come up with. He knew it would be interesting and had been praying God would lead Bryten and Tinsley towards a relationship.. You could tell Bryten had already formed a bond with her and Tinsley had obviously been missing him, but Jacob knew each one still needed guidance. A former patient dating her former doctor could be tricky for the ward and the patient, but if God had predestined them to be together then no man could stop them.
Jacob talked to Bryten and Bryten knew that because he had prayed for extreme guidance over the past few days about what to do. He knew God was just and would not allow anything bad to happen to him as long as it was God's will. He had spent three days away from Tinsley, so that if anything did come up, he would say honestly she was not under his care. He knew where the laws were and he had been very conscious of them even if he had been driving everyone crazy asking how Tinsley was.
“I have a feeling you will be seeing him soon.” Jacob chuckled.
“Do you know when I will be allowed to leave my room?” she asked.
“Soon.” Jacob promised.
She sighed in a dramatic/playful way. “You and Ms. Eva said that yesterday.” she reminded him.
He laughed and pulled a chair up to her bed. “We are doing the best we can.”
“I know and I appreciate it.” she said with a small smile.
“Didn't Kasey bring you some books?” Jacob asked. He had to refrain from telling her it was actually Bryten who bought them for her.
