Chapter 11

'Mr. Stark, there is an incoming message.'

Tony heard Friday's voice as he sat in his office. Before he could respond a video appeared on his laptop of Melody tied to a chair. "Friday, call everyone to the conference room. Now." He arrived in the conference room as everyone else did.

"What's going on Tony?"

He looked at an obviously already upset Steve, "Melody was taken."

"What?!" Natasha and Steve spoke in unison as they watched Tony put the video up for them all to watch.

It ended as Allison hit her the second time, "where is she? What does she mean about them underestimating her?" Steve looked at Natasha and Tony looking at each other, "you're still keeping things from me!"

Natasha sighed, "we've been friends for years Steve. I've trained her well. She can handle herself with Rumlow and some tart."

He shook his head, "what do you mean by trained well?"

She shrugged, "I mean," she approached him, poking him in the chest, "if you didn't have the serum, she could take you easily." She looked back as she heard Tony snicker.

Steve looked up at them, "what else are you hiding from me?"

Tony shook his head, "why are you overreacting? She's related to me. She's friends with Natasha. We wanted to make sure she could handle herself if she ever had to. And she can."

Steve sighed, resting his hand on his hips, "okay. Fine. But where is she? And where is Buck? Rumlow is the one that took him, I recognized his voice on the comms."

"We don't know. We'll see if we can track the video Steve."

Natasha went up to her friend, "we'll find them. Okay? And you'll fix this. You have to fix this Steve."

He nodded, "I know I do."

After easily getting out of the loose restraints on the chair and knocking out Rumlow and Alison, I picked up one of his guns as I started to survey the building. "Bucky?" He had to be here, I just knew it. I found the building mostly empty as I eased downstairs. I found a few guards, taking them out. Guards meant they were protecting something, or someone. "Bucky?" I mumbled to myself, "please be Bucky."

"Mel?"

I heard him a couple rooms away from me. I opened the door to find him strapped to a metal chair with chains, "Bucky!"

"What happened to you? What are you doing here?" He surveyed the bruises on her face, "are you okay?"

I nodded, trying to find a way to break the chains, "I'm fine. I was taken by Rumlow too."

He motioned to a stack of drawers behind the door, "they aren't very smart. I would be able to break free, but they drugged me. It's slowed me down and weakened me a bit. But I can feel it starting to wear off. There's a key over there somewhere."

I found the key, looking at him as I undid the chains, "why did they take you?"

He shrugged, "I assume to turn me into The Winter Soldier again. But whatever Shuri and Ayo did worked because they kept failing. I think they were wasting time for whoever is in charge."

I nodded, pulling him into a hug as he stood up, "I'm so glad they failed."

He chuckled, "not as glad as me. Let's get you home."

I scoffed, "nothing really to go home to. Let's just get you home to Nat."

He groaned as they started walking up the stairs, "what did Steve do now?"

I laughed, "nothing. It's fine. It wasn't meant to be."

He stopped at the top of the stairs, turning to face her, "he loves you. He's just mad you kept that you're related to Tony from him. He's being stupid, but he'll get over it. Now let's get out of here before whoever is really in charge shows up with more soldiers. They seemed to have underestimated you doll."

I shook my head as I made him continue to walk, "I don't think Steve will want me anymore; not after our last encounter." I laughed, "and everyone underestimates me Buck." As we approached the door to leave we heard a gun shot as I felt a pain in my stomach and side.

Bucky turned around to see Rumlow with a gun. He barely had his metal arm up to block the next shot as he grabbed the gun from Melody, shooting Rumlow.

I heard him come back to me, picking me up off the ground as I passed out.

We were all gathered in the conference room when we heard someone yelling. We ran out to find Bucky, "Melody! You found her? You saved her?" I grabbed her from his arms as I took her to the lab. I heard him following close behind.

"Not at all. She saved me." He kissed Natasha as she came up to him, trying to check him over, "I'm fine. Stop fussing." He brushed her off him as she hit him in the arm, "ow! Nat!"

"Don't scare me like that!"

Bucky laughed, wrapping his arms around her waist, "I'm sorry." He motioned to Melody on the table, "you have quite the protégé there."

She smiled, putting her arms around his neck, "well she was trained by the best."

He laughed again as he pressed his lips to hers.
