That Feeling

Chapter Ten

Skylar's P.O.V.

I walk into the house with Dad hand in hand as everyone is surrounding someone. "Skylar, this is Caleb." Dad says moving me to in front of him and I smile at the tan man standing in front of me. "Skylar." He says and I smile. 

I'm not sure how I'm suppose to act since I already know who he is. But I can't help but smile like a child and giggle at his beauty. "Caleb." I smile and he leads me to sit. I sit down next to him and we smile at each other and back at Dad. "Alright, we are going to have a meeting. Since our pack is finaly together and we have a full numbered pack. We need to talk about safety and what we have discovered." Dad pauses and I become concerned.

What if they didn't find anything new, what if its all the same. Will we continue to hide?

"We have new news. There are less hunters now. Nick is still after, he is more obsessed than ever. We talked to his ex friends and they said that he is more viscous than ever. He is looking for another one of me. But Skylar is the only one. They don't want me, they want her. If Nick finds her, our pack will be in danger. I want to make sure that you two complete the meeting bond before the sun sets next. I know its a rush, but I need to make sure you are safe." Dad looks at me and I barely hear his words.

"I'll keep her safe no matter what." Caleb hums behind me and I feel his warmth come off of him and on to me. It feels so good to be safe. I like this feeling.

We will hunt tonight but it will be the last until a couple of days. Ricardo said that Nick is planning to attack in less then seventy two hours." Dad continues and looks around the kitchen. "So he has found us?" Sam asks and I feel two pairs of hands on my shoulder. I know they are Jade's. She keeps me company when we have trouble in our pack.

"Yes. But that doesn't mean we attack everything we see. We stay in our human form no matter what. I don't want him to start shooting at every wolf." Dad nods and the conversation is over.

Sam, Dad, Bella and Matt leave the room as Jade takes a seat next to Caleb. She looks like she is about to cry, but she holds them back.

"Skylar, no matter if this jack ass decides to come and try. He won't even get any where near you. I will make sure of that." Jade says with a smile and I feel tears fall out of my eyes as I giggle at her comfort. Caleb catches my tear on a finger. "Thank you." I mutter and she gets up and kisses my forehead.

"So." Caleb says after Jade leaves. I smile at him. I never really thought all of this could mean so much. The visions showing me what I needed to avoid. But I still can't wrap my head around it, it just seems so strange for it all to be happening like this.

"So." I smile at him and he takes my hands in his. Mine are so small compared to his. Its incredible how much bigger he is than me. "Did you see him?" I ask hoping he understands what I'm talking about. Caleb looks down and then back up at me. "Do you really want to talk about that right now?" He asks and I shake my head not sure what to talk about.

I look over his face and seeing how beautiful he really is. He looks at me with his clear eyes and I can tell he has more to tell me but he doesn't want to say too much. "What are you hiding?" I ask knowing he has something to say. His face changes, like he has been caught or he is shocked by my question.

He looks at me and then rubs my soft cheek with his thumb. I blush at his action and then look at him when he breaths. "When the right time comes, I will tell you." He smiles at me and I become worried.

"But for now." He says before I can get a word in. "I want you to enjoy me as much as you can." He winks at me and I smile. I grab his hand and cup it a round mine as he still caresses my cheek. "I'll try." I tell him wanting to see what he can show me.

Jake's P.O.V.

I couldn't stay away.

I had to see if she actually believes this story they have told her. Caleb had told me that he would tell her when the wolf hunters are dead and gone. But what if she gets hurt, will she even know the real truth?

I need to find out more about this wolf hunter and see if he can change things. Maybe he will want to negotiate on something, me in exchange for her. If only we could both live.

I look at Caleb as he touches her face. Why can't I protect her? What is so great about this Caleb stranger? He's no better than me, is he? He can't be. I mean, so what if he's buffer, so what if he is smarter, I can protect her, I can be her mate. Why can't I? Who's stopping me?

"Come on Jake. Time to go." Tate yells from the jeep window waiting for me.

I let go of her and try to catch my breath as I climb into the car before any one sees me. I know I can keep her safe, but that means not being with her. I guess thats all I can give her.

"You really want to do this?" Tate asks me and without hesitation I nod. "All over a girl?" Tate asks not knowing the feeling about being a mate. "I have to do this. Its for her. For her safety." I tell him knowing he won't understand. He will just let me do it. He will pretend to understand, but in reality he doesn't.

"Alright kid. I'm gunna miss ya." Tate mutters as we ride on the interstate toward Colorado.
