Chapter Sixteen

Skylar's P.O.V.

I wake up to rosey fingered dawn and realize that my eyes are swollen, this could be from crying myself to sleep. I look beside me where Caleb is suppose to be but is not. His side of the bed still warm. We haven't really talked about what happened the other night, and well to be honest we haven't really been acting like a mated couple.More like comforting friends.

I lay back in his warmth of the bed and try to imagine the other night minus all the blood.

He was so gentle but then he couldn't have been gentle to make me feel that way. I wonder if he has ever done that before with other women, other human women. I shutter away the thought and get up when I hear Bella up and about in her room.

I knock softly on her door and she answers. Her face is a little hurt when she sees me but invites me in before I could even ask.

I stand over by her window knowing it will be a nice day to just take a walk.

I look at her and see that her eyes are filled with tears. "Bella, I'm so so-." But before I could get anything else out she crushes my spine with a loving hug. "No, I'm sorry. I should have never treated you that way after that whole mess. I'm sorry, Sky." With every word she speaks she squeezes tighter. "Its okay, honestly." I tell her tapping her on the back as if I  have forefitted the wrestling match .

She departs from our bone crushing hug and I catch my breath. "I'm really sorry." I tell her looking her over hoping I didn't break anything. "I'm just glad we aren't mad at each other." She smiles at me and swings my arm back and forth. I nod in agreement. "So what is the plan for today?" She asks me and I shrug.

I look back out the window and smile. "Its nice outside, I was thinking maybe we could go to the lake." I shrug knowing her of all people would want to go to the lake. We have been to the lake in the last three summers so who knows what it looks like now.

Jake's P.O.V.

I wake up to silence.

The machines aren't beeping and I don't hear any squeaky shoes running around the room like there usually is. I open my eyes and find my room completely empty of machines and trays. My nurse, Becky, stands beside me with a bright smile while my sister smiles evilly.

I shiver at the thought of her plan.

"Good morning. Its about time you woke up." Becky smiles at me and I sit up. "Your about ready to go home." Becky stays smiling at me and I am caught off guard. "What?" I ask wondering how fast I had heeled. "Yeah. We gave you some lotus spane. You are all patched up. But you have to keep taking your medicine. And no fighting, you hear?" She smiles at me filling a syringe with bright lime green liquid.

"Wha-?" I ask still confused but like always Ashley interrupts me.

"Oh Jakey, your better isn't that great news?" She gets up blubbering and I roll my eyes at her. What is she up too? "We miss you at home." She smiles and comes over to my bed and grabs my hand into hers. I feel the shock of her touch and I flinch.

"Alright, just one more and you will be all set." Beck says and my eyes are concentrated on Ashley's smile. Then I feel the most horrible pain in my left arm and I close my eyes and see technicolor. "Woah there, you'll be alright." I hear Becky's voice hum and then I drift off to sleep once again.
