Derrik's POV
At lunch, I was totally unprepared for what happened next. The girl had started arguing with that guy who was sitting next to her. I wonder what the were arguing about, but jut then, she sat up storming out of there. The next thing I knew, she was right beside me, smiling.
"Hello. My name is Daniella Saunders. What is your name?" She asked. I froze on the spot. Don't get me wrong - I was thrilled to see that she wanted to know me, too, but I just didn't expect her to do THAT.
"My name is Derrik Wolffe. Nice meeting you, Daniella." I replied.
"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out later today? We can meet up just outside the woods, if that is okay with you."
"Sure!" I loved that idea!!! I was over the moon!
She smiled and went back to her seat, leaving me in a piping hot mess.
"Oooooo! Derrik's got a girlfriend!" Leah teased. Everyone kept laughing about this incident, and I couldn't help but giggle along, too.
Daniella's POV
Later at lunch, after talking to Darra about this, I decided to go talk to that guy. He seemed interesting, unique... I wanted to get to know him. "I'm going to go talk to that guy." I declared.
Darra was not too pleased about this. "I have a bad feeling about those guys, Danni."
"It doesn't matter. I just wanna go meet him. No big deal." I replied
"No, you shouldn't go there. I don't want you to get hurt! You are not going there." He snapped.
"What do you care? It's MY wish. It's my choice." I snapped back.
We argued, and eventually, I won. I went and talked to him and was pleased with the reply. I was thrilled to be meeting him! I went back to my seat, smirking. I earned a eye-roll from Darra.
"Oh, don't be like that!" I snapped at him.
"If you get hurt, or if he does something to you, don't come running back to me."
I mentally rolled my eyes. He was always so overprotective! I can hold my own!
Finally, once I reached home, I spent no time dilly-dallying. I rushed into my room, got ready in record speed and sped to the meeting spot.
I was pleased to see that Derrik was already there.
"Hello!" I greeted. "Hey there, Daniella!" He replied.
I was so excited to meet him, but we both seemed unsure of what to say... An awkward silence fell.
I laughed, breaking the silence. "It's funny how we decided we'd meet but then ended up not talking or having any plan in mind..."
"Yeah." he replied. "What do you normally do around here for fun?" He asked.
"Well, I run around this area... It helps clear my head." I wasn't lying, it WAS fun!
"Alright!" He said, sounding excited.
Derrik POV
I wasn't actually very thrilled at this... Don't get me wrong - I for one, love running in the woods, but I was worried if I ran too fast, I'd accidentally give away the secret of the werewolves.
I put on an excited face, as I started jogging. She seemed to be coming along pretty effortlessly.
She seemed competitive about this as she kept going faster and faster! Of course, I had absolutely no problems running faster. After a while, we were running at supernatural speed - both of us! I was surprised. I was running at the highest speed I could, and she was able to keep up with it! Supernatural speed! We slowed down and finally came to a halt.
"Wow, you're fast!" I commented
"Thanks! Not too bad yourself!" She replied.
She seemed to have run the whole length effortlessly as she barely broke a sweat. I was going to ask her about this, but she beat me to it.
"How were you so fast? I didn't expect you to keep up with me!"
I was speechless. The stench of a vampire - did it mean that she was a vampire?! No way! A wolf's mate can't be a vampire! It's not possible! We were (super)natural enemies!
She interrupted my thoughts. "Are you... a werewolf?" She asked as if it was no big deal.
I was not sure whether I should reveal the secret or not, but I think it didn't really matter. She definitely knew. "Yes." I replied. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're... a vampire, right?" I added.
She seemed slightly taken aback. "Yeah. I suppose you could say that." She replied, shrugging.
She did not seem as surprised by it as me. She seemed to have read my mind as she said, "I thought there was something up when I smelled a horrible stink from you when I bumped into you earlier today. I also smelled it everywhere you went. It wasn't that hard to figure out."
"Huh... And here I thought I kept it a secret really well." I joked.
"Well, it wouldn't be easy for a human. Being a vampire, I do have a much better sense of smell." She replied.
It wasn't easy for me to digest this. I was taken aback by this whole situation. I waved her goodbye, as it was time to go back home - for both of us. We had decided to meet again next week.
I pondered over all of it as I went back home, unsure of weather to tell my siblings about this or not. I'd have to tell Matthew about it, because he was Alpha. I had no choice when it came to that. He had asked me to tell him all about it! I couldn't disobey the Alpha, even if I was Beta!
As soon as I reached home, I was hugged by everyone! They all wanted to know how it went, but I faked being tired and went to my room.
I mind- linked Matthew.
Me: "I'm not really tired... I just don't want to tell anyone about this..."
Matthew: "Alright. I'll keep it a secret for you. Don't worry."
Me: "My mate is a vampire."
Matthew: "WHAT?! No way! This isn't possible!"
Me: "I thought so too! We both realized that we both were supernatural, and I still can't believe it!"
Matthew: "Well, because she is your mate, I'm sure there must be some reason. We should probably go to the grand library later and take a look at the ancient writings. I'm not so sure if this is even possible! If it is, then we should make sure it is not harmful."
Me: "I agree. We both have decided to meet at the same time next week. I hope we have some answers by then."
Mind-link broken.
I was really looking for some answers on this mystery. Hopefully, we'd get some soon.
