Derrik's POV
I was back home after the startling discovery of me somehow changing into a cat. I wouldn't be surprised if I had turned into a wolf accidentally, but a cat? This is different.
I was brought here by Daniella as a cat isn't as fast as a werewolf or vampire. On the way here, I felt nothing more than the warm hold Daniella had on me. I also felt her concern for me. I purred at the coziness her hands had to offer and the fact that she was genuinely concerned for me.
When we reached the house, as I had asked of Matthew, he called silence and order. As the Alpha, he made it clear what had to be done. I'd be set down in my room, because I was the only one who could will my wolf to shift back. I tried reasoning with it, but all I heard were yowls and meows.
In the end, I came up with an idea. get out of this All I had to do was get out of this house and run as fast as my tiny paws would take me, hoping that my wolf would finally come out.
I was a cat, and this meant that I could easily slip through the tiny gap of the window. I used this to my advantage and jumped out. I landed on all fours, much to my surprise, and ran.
I ran as far away I could go, and as fast as my paws would take me. Come on! Come on out, will you?! I thought, desperate for my human or wolf form to emerge. I felt my skin itch as my fur was retracting, slowly but surely. I grinned, thankful that my plan was working. I soon felt my whole body shift into my human form.
I was so happy I finally came back! I was back! The happiness I had was soon overcome by the thought of my wolf. Was he okay?
Are you okay? What happened? I began, wanting the answers to my questions now.
All I heard was low whimpering. I was confused. What had done this to him? With newfound anger, I dashed back to the house with inhuman speed. I didn't care that I was naked. I just ran to the house and burst open the front door, causing everyone to stop in their tracks.
They all stared at me, and I knew that this was weird, to say the least, but it didn't matter. "Someone did something to my wolf. And I want to know who, why and how." I demanded, growling. "Calm down, Derrik!", ordered Matthew, "And put on some damn clothes!" I rolled my eyes, and came back downstairs, fully clothed. "This better?", I asked.
"Okay, now firstly, how did you get out? Secondly, How the heck did you change back? Thirdly, what do you mean your wolf was hurt?!", He shot at me. I responded with a glare, but couldn't disobey the Alpha's command. I had to answer him.
"I squeezed through the small opening in the window and got out because I thought running might get my wolf out. That's how I changed. My wolf wouldn't respond to me and was whimpering. He's hurt. He's upset." I explained. "I will find whoever did this and they will pay.", I ended.
Matthew sighed, "We will get to the bottom of this, but getting angry is no way to go." I nodded. I understand, but I'm not okay with playing it cool when someone or something hurt my wolf.
I let out a deep breath, trying to calm down, but nothing helped. I sighed and made my way to my room, tired after today's fiasco. I entered, only to see Daniella sitting on my bed, and her scent calming me. As soon as she saw me enter, she jumped. "I-I'm sorry. I just-", she apologized. I cut her off, "No worries. You are my mate, after all.", I said. I thought for a while and said, "I thought you'd be back home, to get away from this... incident?"
"N-No. I was too worried." She responded, unsure. I was touched. "Thanks", I said, pulling her into a hug. It took her a moment to respond, but she eventually snaked her hands around my neck, comfortingly running her hands along my back. I wanted to keep her here, making sure she'd stay with me. She tried to pull away, but I kept my hands around her. She eventually gave in and let me hold her for a little longer. I smiled. She knew what I needed.
She pulled away slightly, in the end, but I kept her close to me. Her forehead rested on mine, as she smiled in understanding. "Thank you so much Dan." I said. "You're welcome Derrik.", She said. Her voice was so soft, it took everything in my power to not take her then and there. To not mark her as my own.
I broke away, smiling at her and went to the bathroom. After a quick, warm shower, I laid down on the bed, unable to wipe the stupid smile on my face. It had been plastered there ever since Daniella admitted she was worried for me. And just like that, I fell into a deep sleep...
