Derrik's POV
About two weeks after we kissed for the first time, I asked her to be my girlfriend and we went out on a date. Let's just say that it wasn't my brightest idea.
Flashback
"Hey, Danny!" I called out to my mate. "Yeah, Derrik?" She responded. I collected my thoughts and rushed, "Willyoubemygirlfriend?" She looked back at me with a confused expression, with her eyebrows knitted together. "Will you be my girlfriend?", I repeated after a sigh. I was so nervous! What if she rejected me?!
"Yes!" She responded, excited. I picked her up and spun her around. "Hey, I just have one more question.", I said seriously. "What is it?" She asked. "Would you like to go out on a date with me?" I asked, slightly more calm. "Sure.", she shrugged.
"It's a date, then. Wear comfortable clothes. I'll pick you up around 4:00 in the evening tomorrow." I said, smiling. I smirked at her confused expression and she responded with an amused smile.
The next day, I got to work. I booked the trampoline park and bought tickets for the theatre. I knew how much she loved watching movies. I also knew that she wasn't a big fan of top - notch restaurants and fine dining. So, I got her a different, fun date planned. I wasn't sure if this would classify as a "Date", but I was sure that she would enjoy it.
I wore a pair of jeans and a loose T-Shirt. I slipped on a pair of shoes and was ready. I made my way to the car and picked her up. She looked absolutely gorgeous. She was wearing a pair of tight - fitted, black slacks and a loose yellow top with gibberish written over it. She finished the look with a pair of white shoes.
"You look amazing.", complimented her. "Not too bad yourself", She responded with a smile.
"So, where are we going?" she questioned.
"It's a surprise till we get there!" I replied.
She patiently waited for us to reach the destination, and when we did, her mouth dropped. "We're here!", I announced. "Woah. A trampoline park?! You know how much I love jumping and playing!" She said. I shrugged "Yeah, I know. So I decided to bring you here instead of a cliché date at a restaurant." I smirked. Her mouth gaped as she squealed, earning a laugh from me.
I led her to one of the trampolines and we spent about an hour here. "We're going back already? I didn't know you were that eager to get me back home!" She teased. "I can't believe you'd think I was just going to do that! I'm hurt!", I replied, faking a pout. "So where to, then?" She asked. "You'll see." I replied.
I was certainly not ready for what happened next. We got stuck in traffic and weren't able to reach the theatre in time. When we got there, I threw my head back in frustration. We were half an hour late!
"I'm so sorry, Danny! I got us tickets to the movies, but we got stuck in that stupid jam!" I vented. "It's okay! I feel good knowing that you did that." She said smiling and placing a hand on my shoulder. "I'll make it up to you. You wanna to to burger king for dinner? I can't think of anything else at the moment. It's also the closest here." I said, honestly feeling bad about the situation.
"Sure! As long as I'm paying." She declared. "But that's not the point of a date! I'm supposed to treat you!" I protested. "Nuh - uh. I'm paying and that's final." She said, leaving no room for discussion. I sighed in defeat. Why was she so stubborn?!
We reached there, and the shop was closed. Why did I have such rotten luck?! I cursed myself for being so stupid. Instead of me taking her out and treating her, it ended up being her comforting me.
"Oh, Come on!" I whined, upset at myself.
"Hey, don't beat yourself up! It was the best day of my life, Derrik." She protested.
I couldn't help but feel like she was only doing this to cheer me up.
"Please, just don't lie. We both know that this 'date' was a failure." I said, upset.
"I'm not lying! I have never heard of such a unique date! Can you imagine having the exact same first date that other girls have? Can you imagine how boring that would be?! I honestly didn't expect anything less from you. You made this date a success. You made it unique. You made an effort to make it special. It may not have been exactly the way you pictured it, but it was perfect in every way. A trampoline park?! Now that's special. You really need to learn that not everyone wants the same boring stuff." She said.
"Thanks, Dan." I said.
She smiled at me before giving me a short, soft kiss. I smiled back at her. "Thank you so much, Derrik. I mean it." She said, genuinely.
End of flashback
So maybe it wasn't a total disaster, but it technically worked, right? I mean - I still stand by my opinion that it wasn't the best idea I ever had, but it made Danny happy. It was her idea of a perfect date. I have to admit, this was a pretty weird idea of a perfect date, but she's Daniella! She's far from normal and I love it about her.
