Matthew POV
It was around 9:00 on a Sunday morning. Me, Seth and Leah were the only ones awake yet. I expected Derrik to have woken up by now, but Sam loves his sleep. Derrik, however, normally wakes up early. I made my way to his room to see what's keeping him. We were supposed to go for a trek today. We don't normally get much time for just the two of us. We are good friends, but because of our duties, rarely get much time together.
When I got to his room, I saw that his sheets were neatly folded, and he was nowhere to be seen! I linked him, hoping for an explanation.
Matthew: "Derrik! Where are you?!"
Derrik: "Oh, Good morning to you, too, Matt!"
Matthew: "This is NOT funny. I was worried! We were supposed to go for a trek remember?!"
Derrik: "Oh, yeah! I was just waiting for you to get up, but the Sun had risen by then. Besides, I'm only outside."
Matthew: "What is wrong with you?!"
I broke the link, dashing back outside, and sure enough, Derrik was standing right there, an all-too-innocent look on his face. What has gotten into him?! "What have you been doing this whole time?!" I ordered. He had to obey. "I went for a run, trying to clear my head. I want to get closer to her, but I'm not sure if she's okay with it.", He replied monotonously. My mouth opened to say something, but nothing came out. He clasped his hands over his mouth when he realized what he had said.
"Dude, are you okay?" I asked, genuinely worried. He sighed, knowing that he couldn't get out of this now. "No, I'm not okay. My wolf just wants his mate to accept him, but I don't want to rush it. I don't want her to reject us." He said, looking up at the sky for help from an unknown force.
I sighed, "I haven't met my mate, so I'm sorry, but I can't help you. In my opinion, you should spend more time with her. Darra told me that she loves movies. His mouth gaped in shock. I knew it was because he never thought I would ever have anything to do with Darra. Especially since I barely knew him about a month ago.
"The truth is, I began speaking to Darra ever since I found out that Daniella was Derrik's mate. I just wanted to get to know him so that Derrik didn't mess up badly. ", I explained, hoping he'd understand. I had no real reason to keep it from him, I just never considered telling him about it. "I'm sorry I kept it from you, I didn't try to keep it a secret, but I should have told you either way.", I apologized.
He glared at me before nodding and sprinting off into the distance. I had no idea what to do or why he was going there, but I sure as heck wasn't going to get in the way of two mates. The moon goddess had a reason for bringing two enemies together. I just hope it works.
------------------
About 2-3 hours later, Derrik linked me.
Derrik: "Uh... Matt?"
Matthew: "Yeah?"
Derrik: "We have a problem"
He sent an image of himself in the mirror. It was a cat, being held in Daniella's hands.
Matthew: "Okay... I see the issue."
Derrik: "I'm coming there. By that, I mean Daniella is carrying me there."
Matthew: "Alright. I'll let everyone know."
Derrik: "Thanks. Also - if possible, please look up if this is even possible!"
Matthew: "Will do. Just get over here."
With that, I broke the link. This wasn't right, and can't happen. I panicked, but I couldn't show it in front of the pack, so I made my way to the meeting room, ordering everyone's attention.
"We have an issue.", I began, hoping everyone would believe me and go with the plan. Especially since it involved a Vampire. "Derrik has turned... Into... a cat...", I continued nervously. Everyone stared at me. Some of them looked at me in shock, while the others were about to burst into a fit of laughter. "I'm not joking. He just linked me." I said, lacing my voice with seriousness and authority. "Daniella, his mate is bringing him here. She's a..." I paused, staring Leah down to warn her before continuing, "Vampire." I finished. The room broke into murmurs and I growled, getting their attention. I wasn't a big fan of using my Alpha authority, but I had to. This was a serious matter. "I want everyone to be friendly. She is Derrik's mate. We will treat her well." I stated, much to everyone's dislike.
We heard a light knock on the door, and everyone was so distracted by the discussion, that we all missed the stench of vampire. I had to put a conscious effort to prevent myself from gagging. I walked over and opened the door, and sure enough, I saw Daniella holding a Cat - Derrik in her hands.
A/N
Sorry this chapter wasn't all that much. I wanted to show you the story from Matt's POV. There was a lot of information missing from the previous chapter. I decided to write the same events from Matt as he knew why Derrik went to Danny's place and how he knew she liked movies.
