School had finished for winter break and as part of their plans Rory and Colin were going to New York for the weekend. They had plans to attend the McCrae holiday party, and also to meet up with and go out with some of Colin's friends from Yale. The ones that he admitted were his best friend's yet that they didn't quite know the real him as well as Rory already did.
Since their almost kiss the previous weekend Colin had been thinking, alot. He realized that he had been extremely disappointed when Rory had run to be sick that night before he could get a chance to kiss her, and even more disappointed that she seemed to not remember that part of the night at all. That combined with her reaction to hearing him stress that they were just friends had made him finally see what everyone else already knew- they really weren't just friends and maybe never had been. So he was trying to hatch a plan for the weekend, he didn't want them to go their separate ways for the break without some clarification happening, because while he knew he wouldn't find anyone else over the break, he wanted to make sure she also wouldn't. He had received advice all week long from various friends ; Paris, Tristan, Finn, even Logan. Instead of taking just one friend's advice he had decided to combine them all, taking the best parts out of each friend's advice.
And so Colin found himself pacing around a suite at the Plaza, as they had to go their separate ways at the end of the weekend, Rory and Colin had decided to drive to the city separately. Colin was nervous, nervous that she wouldn't like the hotel suite he had picked even though it had two bedrooms, nervous that she would rebuke his advances, nervous that she wouldn't like the side of him that his Yale friends would show. All of his nerves really came down to his fear of Rory rejecting him. A knock at the door startled him, distracting him from his musings. Well, really fears but who wants to admit to that.
Colin opened the door to find Rory standing there, along with a bellhop who was carrying her luggage, which she seemed embarrassed by, knowing Rory she had probably argued and tried to bring the luggage up herself.
"Colin? Can I come in?" Rory asked, startling him.
"Sorry, of course you can Leigh," Colin said as he stepped aside to allow her entrance, before swiftly turning and tipping the bellhop.
"Colin! I would have done that!" Rory exclaimed, embarrassed that Colin had got there before her.
"Psk, it's fine, you are here for me this weekend, it's the least I can do. Your room is the one on the right off from the sitting room, mine is on the left side," Colin gestured in the correct direction watching as her shoulders relaxed, she must have been unsure about the sleeping arrangements for the weekend. "So it's 4 o'clock, should we eat something now before we have to go out to a party where the only good is pretentious Hors d'oeuvres?"
"I think that sounds like a good idea, why don't you order us some food from room service while I go and hang my clothes for the weekend before they get any more wrinkled." Rory said heading towards her room.
"Coffee?"
"Is that ever really a question?"
"I suppose not, I'll order a carafe up as well," Colin confirmed as he watched her leave.
Rory was just finished her burger and getting ready to go and get changed for the evening when Colin stopped her.
"Leigh," he started nervously, "I wanted to talk to you about something before you went to change if that okay?"
"Sure Colin, what's up?" She asked, sitting back down.
"Excuse me if this comes out jumbled or rambly but I just need to get it out there."
