"c'mon love, let's go in. i'll stay with you the whole time okay?" he took my hand and brought me in, not acknowledging josh stood at the door "so what? you've just decided you can leave the house whenever you please without telling anyone where youre going or who youre with? especially because of what happened today, did you really think that was acceptable?!" i kept my eyes glued to the floor, letting tears roll off my face and land on the floor "put your head up. its not acceptable, you cant be harassed in school and then just disappear without telling anyone. i mean for fucks sake you could have been fucking kidnapped!" "Josh mate, calm down for christs sake. leave her alone" ethan shouted walking over to tom and i standing at the front door. "you two want to go up to your room or just chill in living room?" I kept my head down, hiccups coming out along with a steady flow of tears "i think we'll just go up to her room" i heard tom say quietly to ethan. "ill take yous up then"
"im sorry for being such a handful all day today. even tho you legit just met me" he shook his head "don't apologise hun, why dont you tell me a bit more about yourself?" i bit my lip "uhh what do you want to know about me?" he shrugged "favourite animal?" "polar bears" he furrowed his brow but continued to ask ice-breaker-y questions "dream dog? and what would you name them" i stopped to think for a second, opening my mouth to answer a few times but never saying anything. "Hmm, maybe. A greyhound. yeah, id like a greyhound. i dunno what id call it though" He nodded seemingly agreeing with my answer "big dog" i hummed "he can protect me" i smiled at the thought.
"When are you going home?" I asked as we entered the kitchen "10, well mum just said 10 oclock. so i dont know if that means leave at 10 or be home by 10" i nodded and handed him a can of coke from the fridge "soph, cmere" i tensed slightly at josh's voice but followed him to just outside the room "Look, i'm sorry for shouting and how i reacted when you came back. i was really nervous that something had happened to you when you just disappeared with people i've never heard of. especially because of what happened today. i apologise for going to school but i had to. i couldnt let him get away with that. hes suspended for 3 weeks i think and your head of year is gonna speak to you tomorrow" i nodded and gave him a brief hug "its okay, i forgive you. just dont shout at me again please. thats tom, he helped. so just chill" i heard tom laughing from the kitchen.
"have you two eaten?" i nodded "when are you going home?" "wow thats pretty rude josh." i shook my head "10, thats what mum said anyway" josh nodded "Well its 9 now, mum picking you up or you need dropped off?" Tom simply shrugged not having a solid answer to give "text her and find out for me mate" nodding, i dragged tom back up to my room "sorry about the questions" i smiled at him "no problem, mums gonna pick me up she said" "JOSH. TOMS MUM IS GOING TO COME GET HIM" i heard a quiet 'okay' from downstairs.
