A long time ago, Cumbria was home to a large, well loved amusement park. It's name was Finny's Funland, and was the place of many memories for young children.
The park opened in 1958 in a town called Midwell. When it opened, there was only a few basic carnival rides, and one small rollercoaster, simply named "Rollercoaster".
The park was initially popular, and a second park, Vixie's Funland, even opened in Kent. This park didn't last long though as it was closed so all the money spent on that park could be spent on Finny's Funland.
As the years went on, the park kept adding more and more rides. One of these rides was the largest wooden coaster in the UK, named "Wild One". This made the parks popularity skyrocket, and the park kept growing.
This was until 2006, when the parks attendance started declining. The park started losing more and more money until the park only had enough money to break even.
Around this time, the parks founder passed away so the park was inherited by his daughter who had no intention of keeping the park open. There was also an accident that occurred on Wild One where the coaster train derailed. Luckily no one passed away, but this was the final nail in the coffin for Finny's Funland.
In 2010, the park shut down. The owner decided to sell the park to an unknown individual who has left the park as it was when it closed. Everyone knows it exists, but most people are too scared to go near the premises. The park in its abandoned state gave people an uneasy feeling and hardly anyone has been on the site since the park closed.
Emphasis on the word "hardly".
