26th June 2017.
Jacob and Melanie were sitting on Melanie's bed, embracing each other warmly. Jacob was a tall lad, 20 years old. Typical lad too, scruffy hair, slightly messy clothes. The 19 year old Melanie, however, had beautiful long hair and always made sure she looked as good as she could, especially for Jacob.

Jacob explained that he and some of his friends were going out to explore the local legend that is Finny's Funland. Jacob mentioned he was going to record his endeavour to post on YouTube for his urban exploration YouTube channel.

"Make sure you stay safe" Melanie said. "You know that park is falling apart, I'd hate for you or any of your mates to get hurt"

Jacob kissed her and reassured her that they'll all stay safe and won't get hurt. He also mentioned that if he didn't message her at 2 am, she was to call the police as Finny's Funland was known to be quite dangerous. Jacob said goodbye and left Melanie's house, he drove to his small flat to change into all black, and to collect his things. He had some trouble finding his camera thanks to the fact he never put it in the same place, but he eventually found it.  He grabbed his keys, and left to meet his friends.

Driving down the roads of Midwell late at night always felt surreal to Jacob. The fact no one was out driving or even drunkenly walking home after a good night out at the pub unnerved him, but he liked that feeling. Jacob loved the feeling of suspense and tension, it was his style of living, on the edge you could say. This night was no different. No other cars on the road, no one walking, no one even grabbing a late night takeaway. Midwell was silent, as usual.

Jacob turned off the main road and arrived at his best friend Will's house. Will was stood by the door, waiting for Jacob.

"Aye up mate, finally here then" he shouted.

"Yeah sorry I'm late dude, wanted to spend a bit more time with Melanie".

Will made a joke about how he was lucky to see Jacob since he always spent time with her. He then explained that everyone else was waiting in the petrol station car park, and that they would meet them there. Will got in the car, and they started making their way to the petrol station.

"So who's coming then?" Jacob asked.

"Liam, Sam, Aaron and his girlfriend Janine, Sean, and Katy." Will replied.

"You really had to invite Janine?" Jacob said in an annoyed manner. "You know me and her don't get along."

"I didn't invite her, Aaron insisted she came" Will said in a sigh of defeat, indicating he didn't want her to come either.

Once they arrived at the petrol station, they got out of the car to say hello to everyone. The first person Jacob said hello to was Sam. Sam is a sweet boy who's known Jacob for years. He was the "baby" of the group as he was the youngest, being only 18.

The next person he greeted was Katy, his oldest friend. She smiled and gave him a hug in return, they were close like that. He then said hi to Sean and Liam at the same time. They always were around each other as they were the only family either one had, being brothers.

Finally, Jacob said hi to Aaron and Janine. Aaron greeted him as a good friend would while Janine just took one glance, rolled her eyes, and walked away.

"Don't worry about her" Aaron said. "I just didn't want to leave her on her own."

"Alright then, just don't let her spoil tonight. Tonight's really important" Jacob replied.

"Jacob! I brought the lights you wanted, we'll be able to take ace photos with the windows illuminated when we get there!" Sean excitedly said.

"Awesome, let's get going. Liam, Will, Sean, and I will go in my car. Sam, Katy, Aaron and Janine, we'll see ya there." Jacob said, eager to go to the park.

They all got in each respective car and headed for the park, Jacob leading the way. After driving out of Midwell, to the outskirts of the town, they saw a large sign saying "Finny's Funland 0.5 Miles!". The sign featured the big bubble letters everyone knew all too well that looked like the park didn't update their logo since 1976.

Both cars soon turned into the car park for Finny's Funland. The car park was in a bad state. Concrete cracked with weeds growing through, the parking space paint chipping away, and the famous yellow lampposts now all lopsided or even worse, fallen over. The cars navigated their way to the main entrance of the park, the headlights illuminating the turnstiles and the big welcome sign on top of the building saying "FIN Y'   FUN AND" due to the N, S and L falling off over the years.

The engines were turned off, turning the car park pitch black. Everyone got out of the cars and turned their torches on before taking out all of the lights and camera's of the boot of the cars. They all looked towards the entrance in awe before walking through the turnstiles and into Finny's Funland.
