Chapter 7: And the other parent is...

A few weeks later after heartfelt apologies Almond was at his desk with Bean crawling around and babbing like he was having a conversation with his dad who smiled at him.

"You don't say~" Almond said and he picked him boy up and kissed his cheek. This made Bean giggle and frail his arms up and down in happiness while his dad laughed and bounced him on his knee.

Suddenly Almond remembered what he thought off before. Looking at his clock he smiled 'Walnut won't be home for a while...I should do this before she gets home' he thought in his head.

He went to a lab in his department and Bean looked at a lot of stuff in the lab and it was very interesting to him and made him curious about what was going on with his dad.

"Hello there Detective Almond" said a scientist that was at his desk with a smile on her face. "Hello Aloe Cookie I got a small favor to ask you if you don't mind" Almond said as Bean cooed.

"Sure what's up?" Aloe said and she took Bean into her arms. "I was wondering if you can do a test to see who's Bean's other parent is" Almond explained with a frown and longed for his coffee.

"I can do that and go get your coffee and I'll do the tests for you" she said and she layed the baby on the examination table who whimpered softly. This made Almond nod and smiled softly.

"It's ok baby boy~ I'll be right back" he leaves as Bean teared up but stopped as Aloe Cookie smiled and comforts him. "Now now it's ok it'll be ok little guy~" she cooed in a sweet voice.

She then got to work and started her two tests. She grabbed a needle and poor Bean wailed in fear as Almond walked back in with his coffee and he sighed knowing this wasn't good.

"It's ok Beanie~" he cooed and he patted his head softly and cupped his cheek and Bean calmed down a little bit and cooed softly as Aloe gently stuck the needle in his arm and he screamed.

"Shhh shhh shhh~" Almond whispered and he took him in his arms and he got his jelly extracted too and he grunted in pain since he hated needles himself and it kinda hurt him too.

Next Aloe swabbed the inside of their cheeks and the baby sniffled and clung onto Almond's shirt and Almond shushed him and rubbed his back softly to soothe him.

"Ok we'll have the results in a hour or two she said and Almond nodded and later he was comforting a sniffly and fussy nine month old who was very upset about his shot at lot.

"Shh shh I know I know~" he whispered softly and he heard his phone ring and he hopped it wasn't Walnut's school or his boss too and he looked at his phone and sighed in relief.

"Yes Aloe Cookie?" He asked with a smile. "Uh...Almond are you sitting down?" She asked. "I am, what's wrong?" Almond asked as he got worried about this situation now.

"Uh...I found out who's his other parent" she said. "It's a cookie named Rougefort cookie" she said. This made Almond pale and sigh. "Thank you I appreciate your time and help Aloe."

He hung up and looked at the baby and layed him down for his nap. "How could I have not seen this before" he asked himself and he closed his eyes in deep thought as the baby napped.

He blushedas he slowly remembered a long ago when he thought he finally caught the most wanted criminal in the whole kingdom. But he was wrong...very, very, wrong~
