Vampires. You know, blood-sucking, lethal, perfect little predators. Aliens. Vampire-like Aliens.
Except, it's the mother breed. The original species that infected planet after planet with the vampire gene.The mother breed consists of all females, who can either be impregnated by a human male, or can impregnate a human female. Thus, they are more or less bisexual.
They are not permitted to fall in love. The goal is to reproduce and run, never looking back unless to repeat the process when the blood-sucking offspring becomes more or less extinct.
This is one such time.
