Chapter 12 "Loveletter" ラブレター

Muichirou ran to the Butterfly Mansion as fast as he could. It has been some time since he visited the place. He arrived, and rang the doorbell. The door opened and Shinobu came out, a worried look on her face.

"Shinobu nee-chan....."

"Muichirou-kun...You found out huh?" Shinobu asked, looking at his hand.

"Nee-chan, where is y/n?" Muichirou asked, panting from running.

"Muichirou-kun, let's talk inside." Shinobu said, motioning Muichirou to go in.

"Muichirou-kun, y/n isn't here now, but she would like you to have this. She wrote this yesterday. Don't worry, she isn't going anywhere." Shinobu told him, handing him an envelope with a Sakura flower sticker as a seal. 

"Please take your time to read it, I'll go make some tea." Shinobu excused herself and left.

Muichirou took the letter and opened it.

"Muichirou-kun,

I'm sorry if this is sudden, but I would like to apologize to you for ignoring you in school the past few days. This might be shocking but yes, I'm currently suffering from Hanahaki Disease. Tomorrow, I would be taking the surgery  to remove it. So I'm writing this before I forget.

You.

I'm sorry if this is an indirect confession but Muichirou-kun, I'm in love with you. It's okay if you don't like me back, everyone deserves their own happiness.

Once the surgery is done, I know I'll forget my memories of  time you, and I know that I might not be able to create a bond with you ever again. But when I lose my memories, please try to be friends with me again. Please don't leave me lonely. If you can't, then please don't forget me. 

Remember when we first met behind the wisterias? You were so silly that time. Do you remember the time we went lost during summer festival? Do you remember  that time when we planned Nezuko's birthday together but ended up in disaster? I could go on and on and on about all the times and moments we spent with the gang. Please tell me about our first meeting when I recover, please tell me about all the times we had. I want to be able to recall them as much as I can.

Now I have one request for you to do, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Tomorrow the comet would fly past Japan, so please make a wish for me on my behalf. It's a wish I can't tell anyone, not even Kanao Nee-chan. Only you. My wish is that "everyone live a life they want without any regrets" regrets can't be changed. That's why I would want everyone to treasure every moment they had and not put it to waste. I'll try my best to recover so I can get back with the gang to our Secret Base again. Please help me make my wish.

I'm sure even though it's the fate of Hanahaki, Im sure I would gain back my memories of you. You can feel that too can't you?

There were many times I want to turn and shout "I love you" to you. So badly I could even say it through a letter. Could you hear my voice saying that? I hope you could.

"Muichirou-kun, thank you for coming today."  Shinobu said, bowing her head. But before he leaves, Shinobu pulled his sleeve.

"Muichirou-kun, please befriend my sister again. It might be a selfish request, but you changed her life a lot. Now she would remember nothing about you. I don't know if she would go back to her original self. So please." Shinobu cried, wiping her tears with her free hand.

"No problem, Shinobu nee-chan." Muichirou gave her a closed eye smile, and left.
