A Long Distance Relationship

Chapter 10: Home time

Preparing and setting up her textbooks for tomorrow by her locker, Melanie and Britney are talking about the topic on their last period, which was chemistry. "Let me just say something, our teacher, Mr. Peterson is really attractive. His oceanic blue eyes and that smirk whenever he smiles, Mel, even talking about it, gives me the shivers and the butterfly kingdom. Anyway, are you riding home back with me or Bryan, Mel? Locking her locker, Melanie said, "I am not sure. Knowing that I came with Bryan today, he did inform me that he will stay a bit late by practice. So, I guess I should ride with you if you want." Confirming and accepting the answer from Melanie, Britney said, "Okay, so let's go and say goodbye to them and then head out. Alright? "Alright, let's go."

Entering the indoor practice of the boys, playing basketball, Melanie and Britney could see they were the only ones there. Knowing that half of the college students were quietly leaving the college, as soon the bells ranged a few minutes ago. Stepping down the stairs, in between the benches, the girls could spot David and Bryan. When they arrived by the players' benches, a middle-aged man said, "Good afternoon, ladies, may I help you?" Giving the Sir a very simple smile, Melanie said, "Hi there, Coach. I am Melanie and this is my best friend, Britney, we are here to come to speak to Bryan Henderson and David..." "Thompson, coach," said Britney. Turning his head and telling the team members for a time-out, the coach called on Bryan and David, saying, "Hey boys, these two ladies are here for you. I will give you guys 10 mins. Pleasure meeting you, ladies."

Approaching the girls, they quickly gave each other hugs and when they were apart, Britney said, "Hey guys. Mel and I just passed on by here to inform you that we are going together back home. Is that okay with your guys?" Staring at each other to get a response, they said, "Yea, I don't mind." Then Bryan said, "Be safe, and Mel, as soon you get home, send me a message. And then, David said, "Hey Britney, drive safe out there and when you get home, I will wait on your message." Both of the girls were astonished by how the boys responded to them. So, looking at each other, helping themselves not to laugh out loud, Melanie said, "Thanks, Bryan. I shall do what you ask. I say the same thing to you too." Blushing hard on her words. Then Britney said, "Thanks David, I appreciate your concern. Don't forget to drink water and... take a bath when you get home." Saying their goodbyes and walking away toward the door, the girls walked rapidly through the corridors and headed for Britney's car. When they were settled, Melanie said, "If I have known you for a long time, Bri, I can see you are crushing for someone. I could tell how you were looking at David like that. Like you know, mesmerized by his figure and muscles. And you telling me that you see him as a friend, Nah! I guess you are on the same page as me, my gal." Laughing and being a bit grumpy about it, Britney said, "Oh knock it off, Mel. No, Okay. I am not mesmerized by his figure and stuff, I mean I got to admit, he is pretty attractive and sweet, but no, I will keep that behind my mind. Stop reminding me all the time, Mel. I am warning you!" "Oh, you are going to warn me? Really? On what part? The part where you are liking your "friend" or just do not want to admit that you like him?" 

Can I tell you something, like something serious about someone. It's about Priscila. Parking the car to the side, she turned off the car and said, "A few years ago, one of our family members has been abusive toward us. That family member was my uncle. One night, me and Priscila went to see him and checkup at his house. You could tell that he wasn't well, he lost his wife in a car accident. So, we were seated by the coach, and he gave us something to eat, and we talked. During that moment, he was drinking a bottle of wine and started looking at Priscila seductively. I didn't say nothing much during that night, so I felt sick to my stomach that something bad will happen. I went to the bathroom, clean myself well and when I was still by the bathroom, I started here hearing screams from Priscila and rough grunting from my uncle.  I immediately sprung to action, pulling my uncle away from her, covering her by pulling up her pants and giving a huge smack to him. I was furious. I said to him, "How dare you put yourself on her like that? Have you lost your mind?" He came with a strong fist towards me, but I easily dodged it. I kicked him down with my leg, hardly, that he fell on a wooden table. The table broke into pieces. We ran outside as fast as we could, once we were by the car, I called mom and dad and they did the rest. The police came and took him in, he got locked up for life. 

So, going back on liking David, I need a few more time with him. See how he manages things his way around college. You know, get to know at the same time. Now for you and Bryan, your time is short, because you both like each other very much and that indicates by the way you guys are around one another. 

We both laughed and giggled at the thought, and Britney ended up dropping me home that day.
