CHAPTER NINE ~ Slay
"And then when we were in 3rd Grade we have to ride these elephants and then Zyler started crying! You should've seen his face it was ridiculous even our teacher was having a hard time containing her laughter."
I burst out laughing at another Lacey's jokes or tales about Zyler's childhood. I was having too much fun that I didn't realize that Zyler had finally come back on his search for Lacey.
His irritated face gave it all away that he didn't appreciate his efforts put into vain.
"Well hello their Zyler." I couldn't decide if Lacey was teasing the guy or was simply being her but either way I like it.
"Hello Lacey." Zyler replied monotonously.
"Aww," Lacey stood up and grabbed both sides of Zyler's face. The poor guy looks like he could melt right then and there, "Didn't you miss me?"
Oh he misses you alright. I laugh my devilish laugh inside my thoughts.
"I- I don't." Zyler stammered.
"I heard you're torturing poor Alex over here." Lacey's expression turn to a more serious one.
Now Zyler is seriously out of words. His soulless eyes turn to me with death inside them. I'm enjoying this too much to care.
He mouthed to me, "Traitor."
I mouthed back, "Asshole."
Lacey's eyes turn back and forth to Zyler and me with an amused glint before announcing, "Okay I have to go. Lots to do with the Student Council and such. Our school is hosting this year's town pageant."
Every year we have a pageant in our town that makes every female in our area to go berserk for the crown. I think it has to do with the fact that the crown means instant popularity. Even people you don't know will congratulate you along the streets and will be forever known as "Ms. Raven Cove" or some shit like that.
My mom always encourages me to join and everytime that she did, my sister always manages to change my mind.
"I'm actually going to join, you should too Alex. I bet you'll win!" Lacey said, her eyes glowing with excitement.
I smiled, "Yeah sure I'll think about it."
"Alex, I think that pageant is for girls only." Zyler interrupted.
I slapped Zyler's arm for the third time today but he manages to block it. The stupid douche should really stop going to the gym.
"Okay then," Lacey spoke, "I better get going. See you Alex!" She said before waving at us with a huge smile.
We stare at her fleeting back until she was gone before I look at Zyler and saw that he's frowning.

"Ms. Hathaway and Mr. Trayton. Since you two are late, you'll be seated at the back." Ms. Geneva said, her pearly white smile twitching from anger before she entered the bus and we followed suit.
Well it looks like she still haven't moved on in the whole cutting classes thing and aside from that we were the only one missing. If it wasn't for Zyler's father who gave a generous amount to this school, the bus would surely left without us ages ago.
