ARAMINTA'S HEART leapt into her throat, but the man she had been assigned to protect did not plummet towards the ground, instead his hands caught some form of flying object, fingers gripping the edges. The moment of relief was short-lived, as Obi-wan was then carried away over the city, disappearing into the mess of vehicles and blinking lights.

"Son of a–"

Araminta's curse was cut off by Anakin as he took a firm hold of her wrist. "Stay here," he instructed Padme, before dragging Araminta out of the room, who retrieved her knife as it flew into her hand from the wall.

The pair of teenagers sprinted from Padme's chambers, Araminta shaking Anakin's hold off after a few strides, the boy's being much larger than hers. She slid her knife back into its sheath as they moved, their moment before all but forgotten.

"You know you're supposed to protect him," Anakin told her from a few steps ahead.

Araminta glared at the back of his head, ears flicking back expressively. "I'm sorry, did you want me to jump out a fucking window?" she snapped, trying to hide her fear of something happening to Obi-Wan while she wasn't there.

She knew if anything happened to him she would easily catch the blame, regardless of circumstance. The entire Council hated her, they would likely leap at the chance to finally punish her. They wouldn't care if he'd leapt out of her ability willingly; if he died, she died. In their eyes, she'd probably gotten away with a terrible crime, and she supposed she had gotten off easy, all because of the boy in front of her.

"Maybe it'd keep you quiet," Anakin fired back as the pair reached the garage, which was open to the city, providing for a great view and a quick exit. Araminta sent the boy a sarcastic smile as he stopped at a yellow speeder, jumping into the seat. She followed, plopping into the passenger seat. Anakin almost immediately flew off, Araminta's dark hair getting blown back as the air rushed past her.

Her stomach lurched as they moved above the city and around the buildings, dodging numerous other speeders as they went. The assassin scanned her surroundings, desperately trying to catch even a glimpse of Obi-Wan. Anakin swerved the speeder abruptly, forcing Araminta to tense and press herself against the side of it. Anakin chuckled at her obvious discomfort, the girl shooting him a venomous glare.

"Something funny?" she said, dryly.

"Yes, you," Anakin said over the wind. Araminta didn't get a chance to answer, as Anakin suddenly sent the speeder diving downward. Araminta gripped the knife at her waist tightly, as if that would do anything, and Anakin levelled the vehicle finally. The girl looked up, seeing Obi-Wan falling towards them, relief flooding her system.

The older Jedi landed on the end of speeder, clambering forward. Araminta slipped in between the two seats, being small enough to do so, as Obi-Wan shouldered his way in to take the seat next to his apprentice. "What took you two so long?" he asked the pair of teenagers, glancing between them.
