CHAPTER 8
[ 6600 words ]

THE TRIP TO THE BEACH came so much sooner than they expected. well not really, time just flew by a lot faster. wanting to separate themselves from the boring adults and the loud kids, the teens opted to be in their own vehicle and just follow their parents.

the ones that were going were elle, kendall, alex, nolan, talia, theo, aurora, and lia. nico and his parents went to london, carter's family stayed behind because their family had some kind of tradition, and maddie was somewhere in europe.

the arrangement remained about the same as their last road trip. theo was the driver, talia was next to him. kendall and elle were next to each other. nolan and rory were too. and lia and alex were making out in the back.

well not really make out per say, just kissing no other touching. lia kissed alex once and hasn't stopped since. it's like she had an addiction to his lips of some sort. alex wasn't complaining, he was just as crazy for her anyway.

"well, well, well, feels like déjà vu huh?" nolan remarked as his eyes swept the relatively quiet vehicle. it was weird that they were all this silent, he figured they'd all be a little louder.

"think we're all just a little tired. it's too early in the morning"

"i mean, you sitting next to me"

"yeah i guess"

"so you talk to carter?" he asked, leaning a little further into his chair as theo stopped at a red light

"about what?"

"i don't know, what do you talk about?"

"it's none of your business. but yeah i did talk to him. his family's going to some cottage with june's family this weekend too"

"him and matthews? again?"

"they're just friends"

"sure, let's go with that" the brunet hummed, tapping his fingers to the beat of the song that was quietly playing on the radio.

"they are. their families are close they always used to do stuff like that"

"okay fine, i mean you trust him. that's all that matters" he said, nodding slowly as he folded his arms across his chest.

rory couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows at him, ever since he told her that he felt like carter wasn't good enough for her that one fateful night where they fell asleep in each other's arms, he started throwing back-handed comments about their relationship. it's like he had some terrible vendetta against carter.

"what's wrong with carter?"

"i don't wanna ruin this trip by telling you now"

"is he cheating?"

"no. well, not that i know."
