BELIEVE ME, RORY AND NOLAN did everything they could to keep in touch. they called and texted everyday, then everyday turned into every other day, every other day turned into once a week, and so on and so forth. eventually, their only interactions dwindled into story replies, and likes on posts.
a mere two months since nolan left, and rory was only just getting back on her feet. his departure affected her a lot more than she, and everyone else expected. they couldn't get her out of bed for days. she barely spoke to anyone and spent most of the first two weeks wallowing in her sadness. it got so bad they asked carter for advice.
carter, at the end of the day, was still a decent person. he tried his best to help but those were all to no avail. eventually, rory told herself she had to get back on track and that was exactly what she did. well, what she was trying to do at least.
she distracted herself with hobbies, new and old. she recently started to learn how to crochet, when she wasn't doing that she was writing songs. she'd hang out with her friends from time to time, but they had their own priorities too of course.
she thought she'd be able to see nolan during spring break, but her mothers surprised her and talia with a round trip to europe. don't get me wrong, she appreciated it. she enjoyed europe. she even met a girl named iris on the trip and they just clicked. it was destiny. they found out they were planning on going to the same university (if accepted), the trip was just — magical.
only downside was, when nolan was in town for a whole week, she was in a whole other continent.
they arrived back from the trip on a sunday afternoon. rory was too lazy unpack, so she of course was laying in bed, using her phone, and asking her friends to help her choose what photos to post for her insta.
and if you're wondering yes, she still sees nolan in her dreams. that wasn't going to change, any time soon or at all.
after elle, and lia had finally come to an agreement on what she should post, rory scheduled. 6pm, instagram. that was ten minutes away so while she was waiting for that to come around, she decided to scroll through her feed. and of course, nolan just had to be the first one she saw.
