➜ CHAPTER ONE
[ 6458 words ]aurora riley rodriguez wasn't used to cold weathers, never really grew up in them, sure she had gone to places with cold weathers maybe once or twice in her life but those trips were relatively short and if anything she could barely even remember them.
but somehow here she was now, standing in the middle of a large backyard that was draped in snow. icicles hung from the ceiling of the familiar yet unfamiliar cottage situated a few meters away from her. she slowly spun around in place, trying to figure out where she was and how she even got there in the first place.
she treaded through the snow carefully, not really used to walking in them in the first place. in a weather like this she half expected herself to be freezing to death, but she wasn't. if anything, she was comfortable, it felt like she belonged there.
she removed the mitten from her left hand, placing it in the pocket of her puffy coat before extending her hand out with an open palm. snowflakes descended upon her bare palm, causing a tiny smile to make its way to her lips. she brought her hand closer to her face, carefully observing what had fallen into her hands. it was true that all snowflakes were unique.
moments later she was wearing skates, standing in the middle of a frozen lake. she was baffled by the way she was able to balance on ice in the first place because she was an absolute train wreck when it came to ice skating. as she tried to figure how to move without falling, she immediately noticed a man skating on the lake too.
he was going so fast she could barely make out who this guy was exactly, but when he slowed down to make his way to her, she caught a glimpse of his face and her heartbeat quickened.
it was him again, the dreamy brown haired, green eyed boy, she had been seeing for lord knows how long, he was skating circles around the brunette who had been dying to know his name.
a chill ran down her spine when he took her hand into his, urging her to come skate with him. the warmth of his skin on hers was so familiar, so refreshing. their hands fit together perfectly and truth be told, she felt safe. all her worries about falling over had completely vanished.
she had no idea who this man was, but she knows seen him before, but not in real life? she didn't know his name and who he was to her exactly, but she had seen him in the best of her dreams so much that she had memorized every intricate detail of his face.
last night, they were in paris taking pictures in front of the eiffel tower. tonight they were skating atop a frozen lake by themselves, jumping, singing, and laughing to their hearts desire. she still didn't have a single clue about who he was, but heavens was he gorgeous.
he had yet to speak to her, she couldn't seem to put a name to the face, he looked so familiar yet so unfamiliar at the same time. something about his eyes were just — familiar. like she's seen them before, somewhere. but where?
after half an hour of skating, falling over, and playing in the snow, the pair got tired. the brunet took her to a nearby bench for them to rest. she let out a long sigh, folding her arms across her chest before she leaned on his shoulder. he draped his arm over her shoulder, pulling her closer to him with both arms now wrapped around her. sighing in content, she closed her eyes gently, indulging in the somehow very familiar warmth of the man beside her.
