2 years ago, the graveyard in Seoul

-Stop judging me, old hag! I swear I gave them all of my salary. I send them money and food every day. Not that they could go outside and buy something... But the meds are expensive.

Minho was the only one in that graveyard, sitting in front of a grave with his last name ingraved on.

He was yelling at it, but there was no one to answer him...

-I'll never forgive you for leaving me here. I can't keep up with this situation. I bet you're laughing at me right now. How I'm struggling to keep alive the people that was supposed to raise me, yet I couldn't keep you alive, the person who took care of me. Well, you made me promise to take care of them. You even threatened me with the rod. You were crazier than your daughter, but I'm grateful. I miss you, grandma.

With that said, Minho raised up and walked to work.

Minho was a police officer, not because he was so in love with justice and teamwork, but because his skills were perfect for this job.

He was known as a merciless, yet fair man. His superiors were impressed of how fast he learns. He was doing everything he was asked or ordered to.

And he was loyal.

His loyalty was beyond comprehension. He was ready to give his life for his boss or for his supervisor. And he was working harder than anyone.

For a stranger eyes, that was the perfect job and the perfect life. However, for Minho was pure torture.

He was doing everything without mistake for a miserable paycheck he didn't even use.

All his money were transferred to a hospital at the city's outskirts. He was eating leftovers, but he was cooking and sending all the food to his parents. Parents who didn't even ask about their son.

He lived with his grandmother since his parents gone crazy. Unfortunately, she died by old age, leaving him alone with the promise to take care of his parents.

That's what his life was about. Working for money. He was saving some money to get his parents out of the hospital and he was so close.

Minho entered the police station to be caught in the middle of a discussion between his boss and the other officers.

-Lee Know! Perfect timing! said Namjoon sighing in relief. I have a mission and you are the perfect man for that. We have a drug dealer in the city. Can you handle it?

-Of course, sir, replied Minho with a dull voice.

-It amaze me how Lee Know doesn't fear anything. We're talking about a dealer from the black market. Those people are in direct connection with Mafia, added Hoseok.

-I didn't raise him to be a scaredly cat, said Suga proud of his disciple.

-You took him under your wing because you two are very alike, intrerupted Jimin leaning on the chair.

-He's not wrong tho, laughed Taehyung. The only difference is that he doesn't sleep so much.

When Minho arrived for the first time in the police department, Suga was the one to teach him everything, including how to make himself bombs.

That was Suga's passion. He always had a strange attraction to the fire. And Minho developed it too.

-Silence! yelled Namjoon so done with his colleagues. Lee Know, you can go. If something happens, call for help, ok?

When Minho was about to leave, he bumped with his shoulder into a prisoner Jungkook had just arrested.

Minho made eye contact for a second with the man. A tall, dressed up man, with blonde curly hair, was smirking at him.

Minho chosed to ignore him, not having any idea who was he or in what circumstances will be their next encounter.

Two days later, Minho managed to arrest the drug dealer. That's how he found himself in the police station with the guy behind the bars annoying him.

-Can you just shut up?

-No. Tell me, officer...Do you need money?

-You do realise you're arrested, right?

-Yep. Anyway, I could give you a nice amount of money for those bombs you make. You do need money, right?

Minho raised up from his seat and approached the bars.

-What's your name?

-Beomgyu.

-Why does a kid like you sale drugs to dubious men on the street?

-I sale more than that. I sale drugs, alcohol, weapons. Basically anything.

-Why?

-Because I'm instructed to. People do anything for money. And I have only one job. If I lose this job, I'm left with nothing. You understand it better than me, right? asked Beomgyu smirking.

-You're a weird kid, replied Minho frowning. I don't need your money.

-If you change your mind, I'm right here, he said waving.

Another night in which Minho couldn't sleep. His nightmares were more often than before since his grandmother died. There was actually only one dream that repeated itself until it became a nightmare.

Minho was dreaming about his parents, how they would be punished with a death sentence and how he would be in the room screaming, but not being able to do anything.

He was living with that fear.

The truth is that his parents weren't violent with each other or with him. But it was in their nature to seek revenge on everything.

Without morality, they were thinking everything must be paid. So if someone was talking shit about them, they were feeling obligated to hunt that one person.

Because of their mental state they didn't end up in prison, but in a hospital. And Minho was forbidden to see them until he would turn 18.

Even when he did turn 18, he didn't go to see them. He didn't know if those strangers would want to see him. After all, they'd managed to raise him only for 3 years.

That night Minho went to the bathroom and opened the cabinet to find the only bottle of pills he had.

Sleeping pills.

He bought it as a last solution, but never used them. He knew they wouldn't work anyway.

Sometimes he was temped to shove the whole bottle down his throat and lay down, but the promise he made was keeping him alive.

-Hope you're enjoying the show, Minho started talking with the photo of his grandma again. Don't worry...I'm not letting you see your grandson overdose. Hell doesn't need another inhabitant. You count as two. You beat the crap out of me so much that the Heavens give you as a negative example.

This part was more about introducing Minho's old life. The next part gets to the main problem which is why did Minho chose to betray Suga and the police.

Should I give you some spoilers through tiktok? I'm considering this, not gonna lie.

You did guessed the traitor in Ateez, but I'm not gonna tell you which one is yet.

Also, I'm preparing a second smut. Do you wanna guess the pair?

Thank you so much for reading!
