"So now that we are done with the museum what are we going to do now?" I question, walking next Conrad, a space about an inch between us.
"I have somewhere in mind, but it's a surprise." He laughs at his own teasing. "But first I think we should get some food. I'm starting to get a little hungry." He looks over to me. "How much do we have left?"
I pull the green wad out of my pocket and count it. "About $30." I frown at how much we have spent already.
"Hmm, well we can go over to McDonalds and get something." He suggests, looking over to me, waiting for an answer. I nod and agree with that, since it's cheap and close to where we are. "Okay." He grabs my hand in his and drags me with him across the street and into the fast food place.
This McDonalds is like all the others, yellow and red on the inside with the people standing at the register in their uniforms, carefully taking orders from the people standing in line. The smell is normal too, smelling of grease and salt and meat and whatever else a burger joint smells like.
"What would you like to order?" The brown haired cashier asked us, looking between Conrad and I.
Conrad ordered first. "I would like a chicken nugget meal with honey mustard." The cashier smiles at him, my heart begins to race, thinking how she cannot have him and that she should stop smiling at him.
Am I jealous? Of a cashier? I think to myself as I order my food. "Can I have the same as him. Oh and two medium drinks please." I grit my teeth as I talk, still jealous of the cashier.
"Okay, it will be a couple minutes so just wait over there." Her smile is bright and cheerful, almost too cheerful. We smile and move to the end of the counter to wait for our food.
"I'll go get our drinks ready, you wait here for the food." Conrad grabs the cups from my hand and fills them both with some ice and coke. He mouths that he is going to find a table for us to sit, since the place is packed like a can of sardines.
The food came up a few minutes later, so I take the tray and walk across the room to where Connie decided to place himself. I should've guessed...next to a window, as usual. I laugh as I get closer to Conrad, knocking me kind of off balance. He got up from the chair and grabbed me from behind, catching me so I wouldn't fall. My eyes meet his, it's like one of those romantic moments you see in the movies, but you don't think is going to ever happen to you.
"Um C-Connie?" I stutter nervously, looking into his beautiful eyes.
"Oh sorry." He helps me up and takes the tray from my hands, placing it on the table. He motions for me to sit, so I do, he follows after me, sitting in the seat across the table. "So are you enjoying your trip?" He asks, picking up a chicken nugget and dipping it in his honey mustard.
I nod, "Yeah I am." I pick up one of my chicken nuggets and dip it in the ketchup then placed it in my mouth.
In the corner of my eye I notice Connie smiling at me, but I don't want to look up because I don't want him to stop looking at me like that.
That sounds selfish...
"Rina? Are you okay?" Connie asks, shoving another nugget into his mouth and taking a sip of his drink. I nod, not knowing what to say. "After this I think we should meet my dad." His voice shifts from happy, to angry.
I look up from plate. "We can stay out a little longer, what about the place you had in mind? When does your dad want to meet?" I go for another nugget as well.
"He messaged me a few hours ago telling me he wants to meet in china town around 4 this afternoon." He brings up his arm and looks at his watch. "It's 3:30 now, so we should head over there as soon as we are done. If it's not too late after my dad, we can still go to the place, after all it's beautiful at night." His expression has nothing, but anger and hatred plastered on his features, even talking about the beautiful place.
"Okay. I'll finish soon." I force a smile and shove another nugget in my mouth.
We finish our food around 3:45 and grab a taxi over to china town. The ride was only about five minutes, so it didn't cost too much, but we only have about $10 dollars left now. Just enough for bus fare.
Conrad and I walk down a few streets before finding the restaurant Connie said his father wanted to meet at. I stop wen I realize something. "Connie, does your dad know I'm coming with you?" Connie looks over to me devilishly.
"No. He only told me not bring mom, he hadn't said anything about anyone else, so I asked you." His smile becomes triumphant as he explains his reasoning.
"What the heck Connie, what if your father gets upset, don't you know what he will do?" I practically yell in his face.
He looks down at the ground, then to me. "I know all to well what he will do, but he has always liked you, so I figure he won't do anything drastic in front of you." His smile fades.
"You are an idiot, you know that." I shake my head and we continue down the street. I point to a lit up sign with Chinese neon letters hanging on the front. "There it is." I look around for Andreas, but didn't see him. "Where is your father?"
Conrad turns around and points across the street. "He's there." His eyes suddenly fill with fear as he points out his father.
Andreas has a devilish smile painted across his face, a smirk that fits his personality all too well. "Hello boy, I see you brought someone with you. How nice to see you again Zorina."
