"Ta da,,,, ##, La la,,,,,###"
"No, not the ears, anything but the ears" I was yelling inside my mind, but of course no one could hear me. Not because of the regular laws of the universe, but because all the students had their hands holding onto their ears for dear life. Which is something we became accustomed to doing at least six times a day now.
Yet, Whoever said you could come to love something you actually hate, never swung by our beloved school and experienced the nerve-wrecking .
Not to be a pessimist or anything. But after nearly losing my hearing abilities at the sound of our 1000 year old school bell's angelic melody, I wasn't looking forward to getting through today at all.
If they wanted to wake students up in the morning, they could simply install a coffee machine or something, or at least get a plate of glass and dig nails in it, that would've sounded better.
Yeah right, like the school actually agreed to install a drinking fountain that doesn't have water that looks like urine!
Lovely school, I must admit, that has enough money for crappy-money-seeking-so-called-events, but doesn't have enough for a healthy water facility!
What I am talking about is the 25th at the end of each semester, a.k.a The Random Day Event. The Random Day Event is the result you get when you leave headmistress Salwa and the pea-sized minds at the student council to actually make important decisions on their own. Disaster! And I'm not exaggerati... okay, maybe a little.
To sum it up, the Random Day Event is "and I quote from our website" a way to pique interest in the student body and avoid "boredom" due to the countless hours of school studying.
Like that could be avoided
But talk about expecting a golden goodness of waffles and getting greasy meat loaf instead! So far, the events centred on overseas famous professor visits, career days that only had accountants or buisness men and successful people in society - basically pretty superficial methods to push us to be like everyone else, because that's how our headmistress sees success.
To be a money-making machine. Super!
Yet, for some unknown reason, I'm still in this soul-sucking school, but I guess had a minor idea of what it's all about. Fear. Fear of starting over, fear of people finding out, fear of more sleepless nights and fear of not fulfilling my promise, which was becoming harder everyday.
Pushing my solemn thoughts to the back of my mind, I began to study my surroundings.
I was sitting at the third row, in the huge red and brown, wood-based school theatre with sparkling decorations everywhere, which made the auditorium look stunning. Blazing lights were directed on the spot where Mrs. Salwa was debuting her new haircut. Her blonde, wild curls were in a messy wave as she walked to the stage wearing a shocking red knee-length dress with ruffles as sleeves, while surprisingly looking Elegant.
Mohamed, the third muskeeter alongside Steph and I and one of the few people out there who had my admiration, was sitting to my right with Stephanie to my left, and kept making discreet fart noises whenever Mrs. Salwa said something pretentious, which was half the time.
"Today, we have a rather intriguing guest, who came all the way from London" Mrs.Salwa's booming voice shook me out of my reverie.
"As a leading celebrity and a well-known writer. .."
this is getting interesting
"He has come here to share his knowledge with us, hoping to inspire you all and give you some interesting news." There was a pregnant pause following her words.
Oh Dean Salwa, you're not even close to being a television reporter, so get to it already.
"give a large hand to.... Greg Mohy."
The room became smaller and I could feel the absence of my breath as it happened...
I fainted on the spot!
--------------------------------------
"Sally...., yo Sally, wake up man," I heard Mohamed's voice."Sallllllaaaeee" he attacked my eardrums with his voice and I sat up abruptly, hitting Steph's face in the process.
"Damn it Jay," she whined, rubbing her sore, porcelain forehead.
"Even after I took you all the way to the nurse's office alone" Her blue eyes looked deadly.
"Sorry Steph," I smiled apologetically, hoping to tame down the wild beast.
"and thanks a bunch, a*s face" I told him, thrusting my tounge at him.
"You're most welcome my fair lady" he faked an accent, while tipping his imaginary hat.
"Remind me never to recommend History to that guy ever again" We all laughed in unison.
Suddenly I remembered why I was in the nurse's office as I questioned them
"Guys, is Grey Mohy really at our school, or was at an English class nap that went out of control"The moment confirmation reached me, by the looks on their faces, I leapt with glee and squealed hysterically in disbelief.
"M...Mo...."
"I know that meeting me feels like a dream but you can say my name, baby. I don't mind" Mohamed mocked, while doing a movie star pose.
"Ah, go pee on yourself jacka*s" I giggled at his comment, after trying to fake being serious.
"Ehm...." we heard a third voice from the door, echoing throughout the tiny, white room.
The voice then continued, filling the room with a heavy british accent that I swear, would've made me swoon like a fan girl if I was alone.
"excuse me for the disturbance children, but can you direct me to the headmistress' office. I need to have a word with her."
