Chapter 6: Dark Elves

Loki and you land in the throne room hand-in-hand. Your body is glowing in preparation for whatever you may encounter. He looks at you, worry written on his face before looking at Odin, "Father, what do we do? Who is doing this?" Odin turns to Loki as Thor arrives behind the two of you followed closely by Fandral.

"The Dark Elves have crossed the BiFrost and will be here at any moment. We must defend the palace." Odin glances at Loki and Thor, "They are searching for something we have not had in our possession for many years."

Fandral kneels, "My king, if the Dark Elves are truly seeking the Tesseract, we must protect Y/N, the Queen mother, and Jane."

You step forward, "All-Father, I will be able to serve much better if I am permitted to fight alongside Thor and Loki."

Odin shakes his head, "While I admire your courage, Y/N, these are foes for which the likes of even you have never encountered. I am ordering you, Frigga, and Jane to seek sanctuary in your chambers."

You bow, gritting your teeth. You start to argue but you feel Loki's eyes on you. You turn and see him shake his head. Instead, you nod at Odin before Frigga takes your arm quickly and leads you to your chambers. You turn to Loki before you exit and see him mouth to you, "Stay safe." Jane has already been ushered into your room. She runs to you and hugs you before you pull away quickly, walking to your balcony. You see the massive ship approaching the city and feel the entire palace shake as the ship opens fire. Your powers begin to concentrate in your hands while trying to come up with a plan.

"I can't just sit here. They are targeting us! What about the people?" You pace, frustrated, your power balling in your chest. "I need to be out there!" You gesture to the door as Frigga watches you, "Here, I'm useless!"

You hear the echoes from the hall as the Dark Elves breach the palace. The sound of bullets ricocheting off the golden walls echoes through the palace. You feel your heart race as you begin to panic. Fear coils in the crevices of your mind, knowing that losing Loki after losing Bucky would be the end of you. You look at Frigga, "What if they don't make it? I can't lose anyone else! I can't! I won't!"

Frigga comes to you quickly and holds your hands. You see her green power start to cycle your hands. "Close your eyes," Frigga instructs you quickly, "If I'm correct, Loki has formed a bond with you while helping you with the pain from losing James?" You nod confirming her suspicions. "Focus on Loki. Focus on his thoughts- his mind, his face, his eyes." You do and after several moments, it is like you are looking through his eyes.

"He... He's scared," you explain, watching the scene unfold before you. "He's fighting alongside Fandral and Thor. The guards have made it to the throne room... There is a man- I think he's their leader. The rest are following him. Malekith- Loki recognizes him."

You open your eyes as you hear Frigga gasp, "If Malekith is here, we are all in grave danger." She looks around your room. She quickly starts using her magic to move heavy objects against the door. You quickly focus on helping her as Jane moves lighter objects.

"What can I do?" You ask, knowing that you must protect her and Jane.

"Well, let's hope it doesn't come to that," she smiles, trying to set you at ease, "But if it does, I need you to do exactly what I tell you."

You nod, closing your eyes again, focusing your powers in your hands. You touch your head and focus on Loki again. You see Malekith standing over Odin. Loki is pinned against a column. Thor is wielding Mjolnir as he takes out several elves to get to Loki. He disposes of the elf holding Loki before they get to Odin.

Malekith pulls Odin up and presses his blade against his neck, "The tesseract! Where is it?" He barks.

Loki tosses his dagger to the floor, holding his hands up to Malekith, "Malekith, you know that we have not held the tesseract in hundreds of years."
