Mind is my measure

Chapter 2

Oh." He groaned as I made my way up his spine, adding a little pressure to the center. Then trailing the tips of my fingers to his built shoulders, I grasped the tension it has gathered. My hands added more pressure, working the tension away. He moaned.

"God." He moaned again. "Your good." He said. I smiled my appreciation. The sound of a sweet bell pulled us out of our pleasure. As I wiped my hands on a towel that was hanging on the olive wall behind me, I heard the munch of paper as the man ,I assumed, rolled into a sitting position.

"Thank you. Please come again." I said. My back towards him. Suddenly arms wrapped around my waist, slamming me into a rock hard and oily chest. I gasped.

"Sweetheart, you don't expect me to walk away after giving me the most relaxing but torturous hour of my life did you?" He breathed in my ear. I turned in his arms, my eyebrows scrunched together, lips set in a thin line as I frowned.

"Yes Mr. Cade, I do expect you to walk away. If you want to see me again, you can make an appointment in the main office." I said firmly.

He chuckled. My frown deepened. Before I could attempt to distance myself from him, my door opened. Landon, my lifesaver and friend stood at the door with a hard glare.

"I believe she asked you to leave." He said with a grim face.

Mr. Cade chuckled again.

" I was just saying my farewell to Ms. May. Until next time." He kissed my cheek before he turned, gathered his clothes and walked towards the door, bumping Landon's shoulder on the way out.

Landon's glare softened as glanced back at me. A smiled bloomed on my face at his protective stance. He relaxed his posture as he came to hug me.

"Hey, Cassy Bear." He smiled while trying encase my body in his. "Hello bodyguard." I joked as I wrapped my arms around his waist.

He rested his head on top of mine as he squeezed tighter, "Why are you always in this situation?" He pulled back , studying my face, waiting for an explanation.

I shrugged. " Not everybody tries to take advantage of me. What do you take me for, a small, defenseless woman?" I peered up at him with a teasing smile.

His handsome face pulled down in a frown. I unwrapped my arms from his waist and reached up to tilt the corners of his mouth up.

"Don't frown, it takes more muscle to frown than to smile." I stated.

He rolled his eyes but, none the less, smiled.

"Let's get lunch."

Landon and I walked side by side as we passed a few stores from the spa. A beautiful day in Aspen. It's winter so the sidewalks are covered in a light sheen of snow and the lights are glowing brightly throughout the city.

I smiled at an older couple as they held hands, love still shining bright in their eyes as they sat on a bench by the street. I glanced up at Landon.

"Where are we going?" I asked, curious. He looked around at all the stores and restaurants, ignoring me, before relief filled his face.

He grabbed my hand and we turned at a cross light to wait for the walking sign to give us the "go". I sighed, creating a puff a smoke in the frigid air.

After we crossed the street, we turned right from the corner to stop at a small cafe.

I let go of his hand to rub mine's together, trying to emit warmth, while waiting for Landon to open the door. He reached for the handle before it was suddenly thrown open, me standing behind the door, crashed to the floor.

I gasped from the fleeting pain, a shadow unexpectedly cast over my body. I released a breath, gazing up, my eyes widened...
