I knew a boy who liked to draw,
He drew pictures that nobody saw.
He was most artistic late at night,
In the bathroom out of sight.
He kept a secret no one knew.
He didn't tell a soul, and his gallery grew.
His drawings were different, no paper or pen.
But needed a bandage every now and again.
We stood by the river under the stars,
He rolled up his sleeves and showed me his scars.
He felt embarrassed and looked at his shoe.
Then I rolled up my sleeves and whispered, "I draw too."

This year on my birthday I wished to be dead,
They all clapped,
But they didn't know,
That they just encouraged me to do it.

You seem happy, right?
You see no cuts on my wrists,
Only the smile on my lips.
You hear me laugh you see me smile.
But did you take the time to look in my eyes?
Did you see the emptiness, the darkness?
Did you check my hips?
Darling, if you only opened your eyes,
You could see I was dying inside.
