I walk into to modern, dark glassed building smiling like a mad person for my ultimate dream was coming through. Maybe it was the beauty of the building and the city I was walking through or the fact that I was at the main headquarters of The Starlight Records but whatever it was it made the realization of the importance of this meeting coming through even more magical and sensation as well as scary and terrifying.
"What if I couldn't do this?, I've never thought of what I would say? Lord, why didn't I prepare." I thought to myself getting really worried and starting to get slightly sweaty palms.
You'll be fine, your a spy for goodness sakes. This can't be harder than fighting horrible people and solving missions.
My conscience reassures yet reprimands me.
"Are you ok, miss, you seem a bit nervous" a lady seemly in her mid thirties wearing a fashionable blue and white dress and a dark blue vest jacket said breaking me out of the pep talk my conscience had just finished giving. Her blonde hair was up in neat bun with a pen going straight through the top nicely. She removed herself from the wide circular desk found at the end of passage with a blue clipboard in hand. I was amazed at how poised and confident she dressed, spoke and just generally seemed; I had never seen anyone more professional looking. New York was certainly not what I had expected, first there's a nice certainly not rude taxi driver now a pleasant desk employee (Not that I was complaining).
"Umm" I seemed to have lost my words for the first time.
"Awe, you must be miss Harrison"
Mrs. Harrison? But why would she call me ... Oh Naomi Harrison, I'm still her, right, I'm still I spy got to hide true identity. I just got here and my spy life has already started to ruin it.
"I am." I said still pretty nervous.
"Well, I'm Carmen and don't be worried, I'm sure you'll do fine, now it's exactly twelve so you've got to get out there."
She says practically pulling me towards a light brown, wide double door. " This way and good luck." She says in a pleasant and high British maid voice gesticulating to the wooden double door with both her hands before giving me a thumbs up.
I push the double doors open at the same time before seeing a long narrow dark brown table with music executors sitting on either side of the table with either a laptop or notepad placed in front of each executor. And of corse at the end of the long table was Bobby Jones himself. Taking in my location and everything with it gave me this pretty neat feeling inside that I never wanted to go away. I walked confidently to the left of the table as the executors stood up. I found a piece of paper on the floor and took it up from the floor for it was a hazard for others. I disposed of the paper properly in a small black garbage bin beside the width of the table my idol was now standing at.
"Well, hello there. I've heard so much about you and your singing from my clients that I needed to meet you in person."
He said pleasantly extending his hand out. I, bewildered by my idol speaking to me, almost forgot to shake the hand but did so just before it would have gotten awkward.
" it's a pleasure to meet you as well, sir" I say with all the courage I have and of course my manners.
" do you have any questions before we talk business?" He continues as he sits back down in his large black lounge chair before gesturing to a smaller empty black executive chair to his left. I sat as I thought long and hard before I thought of the perfect question.
"How did you discover me if I haven't performed before?"
"Well if you mean besides the video of you singing for two of my clients at the NYC Christmas concert?" He says with admiration in his eyes. Was he admiring me? Awe this feeling was amazing but back to reality:
" I hadn't known of the video, I was just trying to impress two of my many idols." I said implying openly that he was also one making him smile.
" The way you sang all those songs into a perfect medley and in such perfect harmony. It was truly amazing"
I blushed slightly at his compliments for I was being complimented by The Bobby Jones.
" well thank you."
"Now back to business, your going to need a lawy...." My voice had cut him off
"I'm sorry but may I be excused for a few minutes." I said as the FSCP continued buzzing like crazy with a red triangle with exclamation sign in the centre flashed wildly alerting me something must be terribly wrong and I was more worried than before, which I previously thought was impossible.
" I'm sorry but I have many clients and there's a lot of paperwork here for you to sign"
"It will just be a minute or so, I promise"
"Young lady, I have 17 more clients to deal with and I don't have the time for this" he said now raising his voice angrily.
My family could be in trouble. I had all the rest of my life to be a music sensation but right now I had to find out what's going on.
" I'm sorry sir, but my family might need me and that's more important right now." I said with all the strength I had as I ran out of the room pushing open the door and running straight in the direction a room with a sign marked restrooms right above it's entrance. I locked myself inside one of the cubicles and answered the phone making my dad's worried facial expression pop up.
" Sweety, we need your help and fast."
