Sighs

Dream closes his journal of human lives, tethered strings, and pitiful endings.

"Kristen! Another one coming your way!" Dream calls out behind him, laying back against the lounge, resting his head against the backrest so he looks upside down upon the other God.

"Must you really end some lives as shortly as you do, Dream? You end some poor child's life so young, or a young adult at the pinacol of their short life." Kristen scolds the younger god, while collecting the small soul from a young child who had been brutally assaulted.

Dream shakes his head and moves his book onto a small table next to him, sighing at Kristen's words.

"Kristen, you love the mortals too much. Imagine if the blood or war god loved mortals. Everything would descend into chaos! They would slaughter each other, eliminating two kingdoms in one. Then that process would repeat with every other land, kingdom and city on this world," Dream spoke while he stood up, making his way over to Kristen.

"Yes, but must you really end so many lives in a singular day, Dream? From my count, there has already been 40, and it isn't even midday!""Oh, I am so sorry my goddess of DEATH! I'll just stop doing the role I was made to do, and have XD come and smite me now, should I?"
The two Gods stood in such a silence, a feather could fall and you could even hear the light noise of it hitting the marble floors.

Neither god wanted to break the silence first, proving to the other that they were the one in the wrong.

Until, Kristen broke said silence with something that shook Dream to his core, and would leave him wounded for eons.

"I'm taking this to XD. This is outrageous." Kristen growled at Dream, with a dark look covering over her eyes, before storming away to XD's work quarters.

It took Dream a moment to fully understand what Kristen had said before it clicked, and Dream started running at lightning pace after Kristen.

GODS DAMN IT, She better not! Maybe she'll just back out of her thoughts and back onto her work light last time, yeah, that's what she'll do! She'll see she's in the wrong and-

Dream couldn't finish his thought process when he reached XD's quarters and noticed that the door was shut.

'Maybe she hasn't made it yet?'No no, she must be inside, she took off before me'

'Yes, but she also had a few moments head start, she may have already spoken things over with XD and left.'

'No, she wouldn't. She couldn't!'

Dream sighed and raised a shaky hand to XD's door and silenced the bickering voices in his head by knocking upon the white paneled door.

It took a second, maybe two until Dream could hear the soft pats of barefoot stepping closer to the door, causing Dream to take a last deep breath and straighten up, right before the door was pulled open, revealing XD

"Ah, Dream, my little brother, just the person I was about to come and collect."XD gave Dream one of his signature shining smiles, but that was AFTER Dream looked inside the room

And noticed Kristen standing inside, arms folded and a unrecognizable expression on her face.
