Dream felt as if his world was cracking around him at Kristen's words.
"Dream, you have been sentenced to live in the mortal world for 3 years."
"W-what...?" Dream whispered, not quite believing his ears.
Kirsten nodded, a hidden pain behind her eyes that no one else could see. Well, maybe XD could if he were looking at Kristen.
"It's only 3 years Dream... the time will fly in no time..!"Dream just stood there shell shocked, not quite listening to any of the reassuring words XD or Kristen had to offer.
"Dream, you have been sentenced to live in the mortal world for 3 years."
But Dream must've been ushered out of the room, and spaced out. Because once his mind came back to him, Dream was laying on his bed in his room staring at the ceiling.
The mortal world...
Dream tried digging around in his mind for some memories that may be helpful for the mortal world.
~About 2 hours later, Dream heard a soft knock on his door. Dream looked up at his door quizically before calling out that the door is unlocked."It's open!"XD stepped through the door, looking a bit upset.
"Hey Dream..." he said in a soft voice.
"Hey XD..." Dream responded back in a equally soft tone.
The two brothers stood in silence for what felt like hours, but was only 5 measly minutes.
"Um.. you'll be given some money for when you first go down to the mortals.. you'll also be leaving tomorrow morning.." XD managed to whisper out.
He sounds like he's going to cry
"T-that's all.." XD muttered before going to walk out.
Suddenly, XD was wrapped in a hug by Dream.
"XD.. don't be upset.. It's my fault I got in this mess, and 3 years will pass like no time!" Dream tried to reassure XD.
"And I do not blame you for this..."XD choked back a sob, and hugged his brother back, the two in silence once more, but not a painful or tension filled one.
They cherished the last few minutes together, as it would be one of the last times they see each other for a while.

The next morning, Dream stood outside the castle and onto the front lawn, waiting to be sent to the mortal world.
"Here's a bag of money," XD told Dream, handing him a pouch of weighty coins. "I'm not about to send you down there to starve."Dream nodded in understanding and tucked the punch away in a pocket of the new trousers he was given so he could look a bit more like a mortal than he already was going to look like.
"Are you ready for the transformation and descent, dream?" Kristen asked, looking at the shorter boy.
"Yeah, I think I'm ready."
