Some nights I sleep. Some nights I don't. I let the moonlight lit up my bedroom. It wasn't bright. It was alright. I could fall asleep to its calming light.
Some nights were okay. Some nights weren't.
One night I woke up to my phone buzzing. I picked it up without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hey." Tobias.
"Hey," I said. "What's wrong?"
"Just wanted to hear your voice." I should be flattered. I was flattered. But worried at the same time. There was only one reason why he's calling in the middle of the night.
"Are you okay?" I said.
"I think."
"Do you want me to come over?"
Tobias was silent. "Please?"
"Okay. I'll be there in ten."
"Okay."
I skated my way to his apartment. The air was still cold. Snow was scattered on the lawns of the houses. The streets looked ghosted. I arrived after a few minutes. The building was sad and dim. I made my way up into his flat.
I knocked twice. He answered it quickly, like he was waiting at the door all the time.
We went to his bedroom and that was when he collapsed into me. His grip was tight, but not suffocating. I immediately reacted and wrapped my whole arms onto him. He wasn't crying this time. But I just know that he needed me.
So I stayed. I would always stay.
What's bothering Tobias Antoine?
I wish I'd know.
