"So, what are you planning on doing with it?" Her father asked. He had flown with her, all the way from their large home in Yellowjacket Hive, to help her move. He would be flying back home in two days, leaving her here all on her own. She still couldn't believe she was an adult now. The eight years of her dragonethood had flown by so fast.
"Well, I want to grow vegetables and grains. You know, stuff you wouldn't find in the rainforest. And then I'm going to sell it to the MudWings and RainWings and NightWings, and maybe the SkyWings, too," She explained. Her father listened with interest. He was the only one she trusted, and the only family member who knew where her new house was.
"Well, if you want to grow anything, you should probably start by buying some seeds," He said after she had finished talking, handing her a small sack, filled to the brim with coins. Spittlebug came from a very well off family, finance-wise. She had more then enough money to buy a mansion, if she wanted. But she didn't want that. She would just have a huge house with nothing to fill it. A small farm house would do her just fine.
She spread her wings, which were rather round for a HiveWing, and took off. The nearest town took her just over five minutes to get to. It was one of those multi-tribe towns that had been popping up everywhere, ever since the "War of SandWing Succession," whatever that was, had ended, about two or three years ago. It was small, but orderly, with wooden buildings sitting in neat little rows along stone paths. Small trees covered in spiky little needles sat in every available space. Spittlebug had always been told trees had leaves, but, then again, her HiveWing teachers back home hadn't even seen a tree before, so who was laughing now. She really liked the location of this town and her house, as well, located right in between the Mud Kingdom, Rainforest, and the mountain range where the famous Jade Mountain was supposed to be.
"Whoa, what's THAT!" she heard a tiny voice yell. A bright yellow and green dragonet pointed her out to his light pink mother, who looked away, embarrassed. Spittlebug got that a lot. She was a bit deformed, another reason to hate her mom, as she had dropped and slightly cracked Spittlebug's egg, as well as probably drinking a lot before her egg was even laid. The light orange HiveWing had weird spikes coming out of the back of her head, and one of her eyes drooped a bit lower then the other. She was often made fun of back home for her appearance.
Suddenly, she felt herself smack into something cold, and a voice yelped, followed by something crashing and shattering onto the ground...
