Chapter 7: misdirection

So I lied. Well, maybe that's not the best way to put it. I simply twisted the truth. Or maybe... didn't tell the whole truth.

My story ended up being that I have been stuck here in this dungeon ever since I randomly woke up one day here. Before that, I have a vague memory.

Pretty cliché I know but, come on It's not exactly easy to come up with a story on the spot. Telling the truth wouldn't make me seem sane either and in the first place telling them I'm a monster probably wouldn't bode well considering the fact that none of the monsters I've encountered were peaceful. Even if they were It's better to be cautious.

Well, to get to the point it ended in a certain deal being made. It was massively beneficial to me but to put it bluntly. I would take care of the front-line work on the way up and they would guide me to Orario.

Having made the deal would begin our journey the next day for the moment I let them know a bit about the parameters of my abilities in case anything on the way up gave me any trouble.

And with that dealt with and with nothing better to do I began to wander around the camp. I would be given a place to sleep of course they didn't seem to fully trust me so I would be watched.

I didn't mind. I wasn't going to do anything anyway. Well more like there was nothing to do. I was directed to my tent and once I got in I decided to sleep for the day. (I was really just thinning out my consciousness)

(6 days later)

We were currently on the 18th floor, we had just run into what the others referred to as an irregular. Apparently, an outbreak of a monster called poison Vermes. They got to some of this party's members and we're now stuck here on the 18th floor. Of course, I could just heal them with my potions, however, it doesn't seem their lives are in any danger. So I decided not to interfere. Besides, great sage said that they were resistant to magicules so it's possible the potions won't even work. Bete, a werewolf, went to get some potions to heal the other members. We'll probably stay here for the next few days until he comes back. So far thanks to great sage eavesdropping I've been able to learn a fair amount about the world as well as the group who's escorting me.

Among other things, I learned that apparently, these people are part of something called the Loki familia. Well, some were from a different familia called the Hephaistos familia. It would seem a familia is something like a group of people under one person. In their case it would seem to be Loki...well I say person but it would seem these people are actually gods. It was great sages hypotheses that the protection against magicule poisoning was an effect of a god giving some people their power. Aside from that it also seemed that this dungeon was the only one in this world. I also learned some of this world's history although most of it was really old. Those are the basic things I learned.

At the moment I was in a tent that was being guarded by two people, a human named Aiz and an Amazon named Tione. Well at the moment anyway. The strongest of the party members would switch between guarding me. Well more like they were guarding everyone from me.

I mean they seem to acknowledge that they wouldn't be able to beat me in a fight. So I'm not entirely sure what they plan on accomplishing by guarding me but I don't really care either way. I was almost out of here. Well, then again I'd already met some people. A few people were able to make some conversation. In particular, a chipper Amazonian named Tiona and a dwarf named Tsubaki. Tiona told me about some legends and old stories from the world. This is where I gained a large amount of my current knowledge of the world. Although as I said most of it is too old to actually be of use. At the very least it helped me blend in with this world's inhabitants a little bit more.
