"You okay?". Part 2

Freddie's Story

I sighed and got up from my bed. I walked back into the kitchen and August and Rose was still there. I said, "Okay I'm finished now". Rose gave me a look of disgust and concern at the same time and I lazily smiled. She formed her lips into a thin line and said, "I- I just can't figure you out! I've known you for over five years and you still confuse me".

Boss just shook his head and said, "We never will". Blue ran into the living room to stop whatever the kids were doing and I sighed. August said, "Rough day?". I replied, "Rough life! I think I pissed off the one person I care about, other than everyone else in the friend group".

August went into his therapist mode and said, "Okay, but what actions did you take, led you to believe you pissed Toni off?". I said, "Well- Wait, how'd you know?". August shrugged and said, "I'm a therapist, I have to pick up on the unsaid. Plus she talks about a specific guy a lot, he's pretty similar to you. What happened?".

I put my hands in my hair and let my fingers get tangled as I sighed trying to let go of the frustrating emotions pooling inside me. I said, "Yesterday we kissed, today she asked me out and I rejected her. I think I like her but, I don't want to lead her on but, I also don't want her to leave me. I'm just confused and don't know how to figure out how I feel quickly enough". August nodded and said, "You'll be fine, just suck it up and figure it out".

I let me face contort into confusion and said, "Aren't you a therapist? you're supposed to be empathetic". He smiled and said, "But that's not how you're wired. You like honesty, you like the harsh truth and getting straight to the point, that's what I did. I gave you advice based on how you take it". I said, "Fine".

August said, "Plus I ship you two, ever since you met her, you talk more!". I rolled my eyes and walked into the living room to mess with my nephew and 'niece'. I grabbed Avery and started tossing him in the air. He giggled and I let him back down. Blue said, "I heard everything, I see you little bro".

She nudged me and I said, "Shut up". She laughed and said, "I am a woman too you know, even though you don't see me as one. If you need advice, I'm here". I said, "She's not like you, she's not like any of us, she's different". She nodded and said, "What ever happened to Chelsea?".

I said, "Why are you bringing up my ex girlfriend?". She replied, "I just wondered, I liked her...". She looked at my unamused face and said, "I like Toni more!". I sighed and Harper walked over to me with a curious look in her eyes. I knew she was going to ask another strange question.

She said, "Hey, Freddie? Why is your face always so dazed?". I furrowed my brows and said, "Aren't you two? Where'd you learned that word?". She said, "Mom teaches me words to use for the day! I'm guessing I used it right". She smiled so happily and I said, "You did".

She said, "Answer my question though old man". I laughed and said, "I'm only thirty four". She said, "That's old! I can't even count that far!". Avery said, "That's because you're stupid". Harper looked over at Avery with pure rage.

She was about to rain hell on Avery. She punched him in the neck which was quite entertaining and she was full on attacking him. Blue said, "Freddie! You're supposed to stop that from happening!". I laughed and said, "Let her get her rage out". Blue slapped the back of my neck and pulled the two of them apart.

I said, "I see where she got the violent acts from". Rose came into the living room and said, "I am so sorry for the violence". Blue said, "Don't be, Avery deserved it". The kids almost immediately resolved their issues and began doing whatever they were doing. I wish it was that easy all the time.
