Aden rifted us to the entry of the Fae world and I was trying my best to hold it together. I didn't black out this time, but my head is still spinning. He told me we'd walk around for a little while or sit at the little diner down the street so I could get my grips before entering into his world. Because apparently going to a whole new dimension does a lot more damage than just being in a rift for a few seconds.

I had been surprised at the fact we landed in downtown Astoria as well. Nothing looked out of the ordinary and you'd never suspect this was an entry point into a whole other world. I'd walked this spot more times than I could count growing up and never once thought 'hey, there could be a different world here.' But I guess that's the point.

Deciding on the diner for a quick snack so my brain would stop rattling around we started heading that direction. Although, as we continued to walk my brain kept wandering back to the fact there was a literal portal to a different world in this tiny ass town I grew up in. Like what were the odds? Unless they're everywhere. Then it would make sense. Either way, I'll have to ask Aden about that when we sit down because thinking of talking anymore while trying to walk is definitely a no go right now.

_______

"Feeling any better now Sammy?" Aden asks jokingly while I shovel hash brown down my throat.

Trying not to laugh I just look up, mouth full of food, fork with more halfway to my mouth just shake my head yes.

Finally taking a breather from horking food down, now that my head isn't spinning I figure it's a good enough time to ask about the portal thingy.

"Hey Aden, what's the deal with the portal being downtown? Like why here?"

"Well, it's a little complicated... but I'll do my best to make it make sense for someone who knows nothing about the Fae dimension." He says, giving me a wink before continuing. "Think of the Fae dimension just like the normal world. Because after all it is just another dimension at its heart. But in the earth dimension, the continents are laid out one way and the Fae dimensions are laid out another. The portal on the earth side leads to the center of a kingdom on the Fae side. And at the center of each there's a temple. So it might look random to anyone here on earth but to the Fae it's all very specific. Make sense?"

"Ummm let me process for a sec.. okay. I'm good." I nod. "Portal here equals a temple there. Easy enough."

"For the most part, yes. You're catching on quick, little one."

"It's not that hard to keep up with if I'm being honest."

"Maybe for you, which is amazing. Especially considering there's humans out there that would blow up just trying to comprehend something like this."

"Well, what can I say? I'm just that good." I say while giving my hair a little flip and letting out a school girl giggle. "But seriously though, how many are there? Like what are the chances I might be this magical savior AND there's a portal right in the town I grew up in."

"Hum, I will admit it's a little strange. But the universe works in weird ways sometimes. There are only six different portals. Each one in a different region. Each protected by one of the six royal families. Hence the 'kingdom temple' name."

"Okayyyy sooo odds... very unlikely. Got it. This shit keeps getting weirder and weirder as the minutes tick by. I swear to God." I huff out before continuing. "So which temple will we be entering in? Is it the kingdom you grew up in?"

"Sad to say it's not. But that's where we will rift to once we get there and check in with the guards. The portal we're going to use will take us to the Vita kingdom. Myself and my family are from the Trevino kingdom."
