the monster generation was legendary.

subsequent generations would learn of them and wonder how in the world so much talent accumulated in one place. talent that revolutionised japanese volleyball.

they won three olympic medals for the country and stood on the podium of numerous world championships. they went from being the underdogs to being the masters of the game internationally. a true force to be reckoned with.

but like the law of time, their glory had become history.

the golden period had ended. most of the players of that legendary generation had now retired and were living their life with luxury they'd earned.

they made the legacy and it was now upto the next generation to continue it. to match up to them.

to surpass them.

"babe", kuroo tetsurou walked in through his penthouse with a tiny golden retriever puppy in his hands that he was holding cautiously.

the puppy was a little jumpy despite being so tiny and he let out a small squeak of a bark in the quiet house.

"shhhh", tetsu looked at the tiny puppy and ran two fingers over his tiny head, "you're so cute oh my god"

"what is it", his wife walked out looking irritated about something, "where were you i was calling-"

her mouth hung open as she looked at the puppy. there were literal stars in her eyes.

"did you buy a puppy without telling me"

kuroo looked at the puppy and then at her.

"yes"

but she was already walking towards the animal and talking to him in baby voice.

"hiii babyyyy welcome to your new homeeeee i love you so muchhhh", she cooed, petting his head, "oh my god you're such a cutieeee"

"wow you never talk to me this way", he raised an eyebrow.

"come to mommy", she held out her arms to the puppy who eagerly scurried into them, "i was gonna get mad at tetsu but you're just too cute"

"what should we name him?", kuroo asked and she gasped

"holy shit kou's gonna go insane. you bought him a dog", she pointed out, "shouldn't we like, let him name him"

"true true", kuroo nodded, "we'll let him. ugh, the sacrifices we make for children."

"tell me about it"

when kousuke walked into the house very late, with his bag over his shoulder, he looked around questioningly.

"baby, over here", his mom called from their room.

she didn't question why he was so late which he was grateful for.

"hey... guys...", kou took a deep breath as he mentally prepared himself to ask them what he was about to ask. "i have a question-"

but then he opened the door and his eyes widened.

"holy shit is that a-"

"what's your question?", his mom stopped the puppy from running towards kou.

"YOU BOUGHT ME A DOG", kou yelled, clapping a hand over his mouth and looking like he was blushing.

"what's your question?", his dad repeated, "you need advice???"
