"Right let's get ready." The five guys went off to start preparing.
~•~•~•~•~"What a-are you doing?" Duff slurred, laughing hard clearly intoxicated and unable to pronounce his words correctly.
"I'm just trying to reach for o-one more." Just a little tipsy but I managed to reach and grab another drink. I managed to pour the liquid into my cup successfully without wasting any and also refilled his.
"Don't you think you've h-had enough tonight?" He hiccuped chuckling at his state.
"I'm fine, I wanted to drink tonight." I sat back down, squinting my eyes to see better in the dark. Everyone seemed to be having a great time either in their own conversations or playing some sort of drinking game.
There was loud commotion and laughter, enjoying the moment and company of others.
"What's the matter?" Duff's tone in voice turned into a much more serious one.
"What do you mean?" My mind didn't have the capability of holding a conversation this serious this late at night after so many drinks. But why not?
"Well you said you wanted to drink there must be a reason as to why, don't we all?" Duff raised a brow, now making eye contact.
"No reason I just want to take my mind off things." I shrugged before taking a sip of my beverage.
"Ahhh see, you're wrong you do have a reason, you want to take your mind off things, talk to me I'm listening." With a small smile on his face he got into a more comfortable position, crossing his arms ready for a long story.
"Are you sure you'll be able to remember any of this by tomorrow?" I raised a brow.
"I guess we'll find out tomorrow." He replied making me laugh at how much he was insisting. I took a slight pause, setting my empty glass down and taking a breath as I looked off into the distance.
"I don't know what I'm doing." I returned my gaze to him as he was already looking my way.
"Hmm." He didn't say anything, took in what I had said and stayed silent to listen to what else I had to say.
"It feels like I'm constantly putting others before me, their happiness and feelings before I take care of mine." Still not really speaking right, slurring my words here and there I felt like I could really open up to Duff. It felt refreshing to open up to a new friend, to hear new advice and opinions.
"And why is that?" He knitted his brows, frowning slightly hearing my words.
"I don't know I guess I love too hard and deep down I'm scared that if I don't keep them happy they'll leave some day." I haven't been this drunk in awhile to be this open as I was right now.
"If that person whoever it is, lover, family, friends if they truly love and care for you they wouldn't want you to be putting them before yourself all the time." He said simply, I stood quiet to hear what else he had to say.
"It's okay to put yourself first, take care of yourself do what you want and what makes you happy whatever that may be." He smiled reaching over to place his larger hand over mine.
"I know I should but-." He interrupts me.
"No buts, you are alright, what is it you like doing anyways, what would you like to do career wise what do you see for your future?" He asked seeming genuinely interested.
"That's a loaded question, but I've always loved drawing and writing, I paint when I have time recently I haven't had any to really sit down and finish a canvas." Duff nodded as if saying to keep going, his eyes never left me.
