"What did you do? How can you bring a girl home? You don't even know her! She could be a ripper or a murderer! She could burn the whole house down with us in it!"
I was woken up by some strange high pitched voice. It seemed unnatural and painfull to make your voice sound like that. I sat up stretching my legs and got ready to go downstairs. I felt there was going to be a disagreement on me staying or not. I wanted to leave as soon as I could but I wasn't sure if that would be a good idea since I don't have anywhere else to go.
The first thing I saw when I went downstairs was a short woman. She had dark brown hair and from what she was wearing I could tell she was very neat and almost too tidy. Next to her stood a very tall, big and wide shoulder-ed man. The woman next to him looked miniature, but she intimidated me more by her expression. They both were dressed very businesslike.
They turned to me with the same expression on their faces - regret. I think they regretted me hearing this conversation.
I walked further into. The tension in the room was almost touchable.
"Hello! I'm Zarah!" I offered them my hand but all they did was looked at it and stared at me.
Michael came besides me and rescued me from this situation.
"Zarah! These are my parents Susan and Bruno." He gestured to the people in front of me.
"I'm sorry for coming uninvited and taking advantage of this situation, I really am but I don't have anywhere to go," I said and hoped that they would understand me.
Susan's face immediately brightened.
"I'm sorry we were so rude" she took my hand in her's and shook it.
I looked at Emily's and Michael's father. I didn't saw any emotion come from his eyes. He walked away and didn't even look at me.
Susan noticed that I had been looking at him walking away and said "He doesn't like people visiting our house. He's not very sociable." She gave me an apologizing glance and walked to the kitchen.
"You must be very hungry. How about...hmm...some sandwiches?" She yelled from the kitchen. I glanced at Michael and we shared the same confused expression.
"Yeah... sure!" I yelled back.
We went into the kitchen and I was still a bit shocked and confused about Susanne's and Bruno's actions.
I made myself a big sandwich and ate it like it was my last meal. "Wow!" I heard Michael say.
"What is it? Is something wrong?" I quickly wiped my mouth with a napkin and looked around for something. I turned my gaze at Michael and he was staring at me with an amused expression on his face.
Finally I understood what he was talking about and my face immediately turned red. I tried to hide my face with my hands but I could feel his stare remaining at me for a long time.
When I finally had the courage to look and lift my head from my hands he remained staring. It made my face turn even darker tone of red.
"What is so amusing that you keep staring at me?" I asked him uncomfortably.
"Oh I don't know.... maybe it's that big blush on your face. You're just so adorable!" He made a funny face, brought a hand to my face and pinched my cheek.
That made me blush even harder and my cheeks kept burning for the longest amount of time. I had never been called adorable. I couldn't imagine myself as cute or adorable.
I had really dark brown hair that reached my middle back and dark blue eyes. My eyelashes were thick so I didn't even think about putting mascara on them. I didn't need it. I wasn't short. Not even close to short. In third grade I was the tallest girl in my class but I learned to cooperate with that. It even gave me some advantages. Now I had grown out of that period and I wasn't that much taller than every other girl but if I walked in heals I would definitely be able to touch the sky. (Well I was a little exaggerating but that first part was true).
