For a moment all my hopes and the things I was praying to come true actally had a chance of comming true. As I hit the gas pedal my heartbeat started to pound in my head. My senses were blurring together and and there was only one thought in my head.
I have to save my brother.
It was dark. The headlights showed me a sharp turn at the end of the road.
I slowed down the car a little bit, but it was still going fast enaugh. The car's light's showed me the way and I made the turn. Just when the turn was made, something heavy hit the front of the car. Panic took over me and I hit the break as fast as my reaction allowed me. The car started to sway from one side to the other and I wasn't able to hold the wheel anymore. My hands were cramped on the each side of the wheel trying to turn the car staight again, but I wasn't sucesful. The thought of jumping out of the car ocured in my head, but my body didn't allow me to do it. I was frozen in place.
The next thing I knew, the car hit a tree on the side of the road. It finaly stopped. I uncramped my hands from the wheel and brought them to my face. I could feel something runing down my forehead.
This is the last thing I needed. I thought to myself.
I felt dizzy, but it was nothing new.
I brought my hands from my face and looked at them. There was blood on my fingertips from the wound on my head.
I was afraid to look back. I had no idea what I had knocked down on the road but the thought of another person dead made me feel sick. And it didn't help that my shoulder was injured, my head was dizzy, my heart was pounding and I felt lightheaded. The sensation of all these things together almost made me throw up.
Stop it. I thought.
You just knocked down a man and you're thinking about yourself right now? I told myself.
I was being selfish and I knew that. But on the other side - how can you not be in this situation? Who wouldn't?
And that brings us back to me again - if not me, then who will save my brother? Free him? Help him see the world again? Put him out of his misery? Save him from whatever they are doing to him? If not me, then who?
Despite my strain to run away from here and never look back, I opened the car door.
I slowly mooved towards the sleeping body on the asphalt a few metres next to me. My hands trembled. I tightened them in fists so I wouldn't loose my strenght.
I was standing in front of the body. The darkness was all around me. The only thing that shined through the darkness was the white t-shirt the person laying on the ground was wearing. It was smeared with blood or dirt in some places. The person was laying in a strange position. I couldn't see his or her face.
My heart was pounding like never before. I reached out to his shoulder and shook it. There was no answer or a movement.
I shook him another few times before reaching up to his face and with my trembling fingers pushed a long, brown and wawy strand of hair out of the person's face. I never would have guessed what I saw.
My eyes went wide and my chin hung low. It turned out it wasn't a man afterward.
"Emily!" A scream escaped from my mouth.
I checked for pulse and a huge rock fell from my shoulders when I finaly found one. I took her face in my hands and tried to lightly wake her up by placing a few easy slaps to her cheeks. It didn't help.
I saw a quick light appear behind the trees and I remembered - we were not alone.
I had to get out of here but I didn't want to leave Emily. The chances of us escaping the men by me dragging her by myself was wery low. It would be easier to dig my own grave already. I had no choice - I wasn't leaving her behind. I couldn't allow myself to watch another person die by my hand.
I gathered all my last strenght that I had left, and putting my arms under her armpits, I pulled her towards the other side of the road. My knees felt weak, but I ignored them focusing on only one goal for now - get Emily and me out of here. Anywhere else was better than here.
I managed to drag her into the forest when the lights that I had saw earlier behind the trees appeared again. When we were right behind some random bushes, a car stoped right next to the place where I hit Emily. A man got out of the drivers seat and drifted towards the car I had stole.I t was the same man who dragged me into that car.
He looked around, but didn't seem to notice us. He brought a phone out of his pocket. It looked like he was dialing a number. He put the phone to his ear and began to walk back to the car before sitting in it and driving away.
I let out a breath. Staying here probably wasn't safe, but I was too exausted to move. I watched Emily lying on the ground besides me and felt sorry for her. She didn't have to be dragged into this. Just like my brother, mother and father didn't, but there was no backing out now. The thought that she was complicit in the assassination mission seemed daunting.
It was dangerous to stay here so I dragged Emily's body under a tree. I covered her with a few branches and made sure she was hidden well enaugh and would wake up as safe as possible. I dragged myself up to my feet and forced myself to go deeper into the forest to look for some kind of help. To look for anything or anyone that helped us.

I was sure I had been walking for hours. My feet were killing me and I wasn't sure if I would remain alive for much longer. My mouth was dry and I was cold. My clothes were wet and heavy from the forest. The longer I was walking the more hopeless it got. The night started to change into morning and my eyelids felt heavier by the second.
I had replayed every second of the last weeks 'adventures'. It seemed like decades since I had been a normal teenager, well...almost normal.
My eyelids felt heavier than ever before and my hands started to shake again. It was like my body was warning me from the danger that came for me because the next moment someone yanked me into their chest and put a wet cloath against my face. I tried to wiggle out of his grasp but it was pointless.
Not again. I thought
"You don't give up, do you?" He said.
I slid into dark unconsciosness.
