When I say, I am fuming. I am livid. But I'm trying to calm myself down because I don't want to have a panic attack. Thankfully, Amaiyah is here, and she is coaching me through everything.
"7 seconds in, 7 seconds out. Again. Last time." Amaiyah spoke
"Amaiyah, Amber, we're back." My mom called out
"Kitchen!" Amaiyah called out
"Are you okay? Do you want me to talk?" She asked me
"I'm okay. Could you talk?" I asked her
"Yeah, sure." She responded
"Hey, hey. I got your message. Is Layeah okay? What happened?" my mom asked
"She's fine. She's upstairs watching TV. But this is what happened." Amaiyah spoke showing my mom the messages

"What the hell!?" My mom yelled out passing the phone to Auntie to read
"Wait a minute? If y'all allegedly attacked him, wouldn't he have had the bruises to show for it?" Auntie Roni asked
"Yeah, so that makes me wonder where he went after he left my house?" I finally spoke
"The only bruise that he should have was from Amber kneeing him in the stomach." Amaiyah spoke
"I just can't understand why did he lie? He would rather lie then to stop his mom and sister from taking my baby. In all these years, I've never asked them for anything, but to just be a grandmother and an aunt to Layeah. Even though, J had his issues, and I didn't want my baby around that, I still didn't take her away from them." I spoke on the verge of a breakdown
"Amby don't cry. It's okay. We will get to the bottom of this. I promise." Auntie Roni spoke wiping my tears
"Wait a minute. When J found out that you were moving to Charlotte, he told you that he would go to rehab as a promise to Layeah. When you wrote that letter to Ms. Williams, you thanked her for talking J into going to rehab. That bastard." Amaiyah spoke
"Amaiyah, what are you getting at?" my mom asked
"J knew he wasn't going to no rehab. He read that letter and saw where you mentioned that. Therefore he sealed it back up and had it "Returned to Sender" to have you think that she didn't want to talk to you. Amber then had the letter marked certified and mailed it again. It was told to you that she signed for it." Amaiyah continued
"He has that letter." We spoke in unison
"I'm not understanding why he would allow this to happen?" Amber asked
"Baby, listen to me, I know you want to expose him, but you have to let God handle it. This battle isn't yours...." she said to me
"It's the Lord's." I finished
"I agree with Sandy. Amby, J. Drew will get what he deserves, whatever that may be. But you just continue what you have been doing for the last 5 years." Auntie Roni spoke
"That's being an amazing mother to Layeah." Amaiyah replied
"That's something that nobody can take away from you. You hear me." My mom assured me
"Yes ma'am. Thank you." I replied
The next thing I know, they engulfed me in a big bear hug
"We love you Amber." They spoke
"I love y'all too." I replied
We released from the hug and my mom and Auntie Roni both got up and walked to the cabinet.
"Really you two?" Amaiyah asked
"Listen, we both have cried twice in less than 2 hours, we need to sober up because this is just ghetto." Auntie Roni explained before taking a shot of Crown Peach
"Crying back-to-back is not what we do." My mom agreed as she followed suit
"Okay Salt n' Pepa. Have it your way." I replied
"Mommy, I want a snack." Layeah called out coming downstairs
"Come and get it back." I told her
"Hey, Nana and Auntie Roni." Layeah spoke
"Hey, baby." They responded
"What do you want to snack?" I asked her
"Chocolate Chip Cookies and Apple Juice." She replied
"After you eat this, I want you to go brush your teeth." I told her sending her on her way
"How about we have a girl's night. Amber can put Lay Lay to bed, and we meet in the theatre room after we all shower in our rooms. How does that sound?" Roni suggested
"Sounds good to us." We replied
We went our respective ways. I went to make sure Layeah didn't have any crumbs anywhere. She then went to brush her teeth and I soon put her to bed. After I said her prayers with her, I tucked her in, turned on her nightlight and she soon fell to sleep. I then went to shower myself after 30 minutes, I met the others in the theatre room. We decided on binge-watching Living Single on Hulu, drinking wine, and eating snacks. Like my mom said, this battle with J, isn't mine; it's the Lords.
