Chapter 15

Amber's POV

I was a little shocked that Ms. Williams called me. I didn't know what happened in Judge Lynn's chambers because we ended up leaving, and I didn't care to know honestly. We talked for about 10 minutes and she explained that she and Kierra had accepted my offer to have dinner with us tonight. I'm really glad that they did because I want them both to meet Ja'Layeah. Despite whatever issues that J and I have, I won't hold them responsible for his behavior. I headed to the room that my mom was in to talk to her about it.

"Why is that, whenever I come in here, you're always in here?" I asked seeing Amaiyah laying in my mom's lap

"I believe you can answer that question, seeing as how you ask it every time." Amaiyah retorted back

"I swear you two argue like you shared a womb." My mom spoke as she massaged Amaiyah's hair

"You know she always likes to pick a fight with me." Amaiyah replied

"Well, if you didn't look like Alien, I wouldn't have too." I mumbled under my breath

"You're interrupting our show, what can we help you with?" Amaiyah asked

"Well since the Crypt Keeper is in here, I can ask you both at the same time. Ms. Williams accepted our offer to have dinner tonight with us, and I was wondering how you feel about me introducing them to Layeah?" I asked

"Well, I can't tell you how to go about it because you're Layeah's mother, but I will say that since Layeah knows who they are just from you making sure of that, I think that it's a good idea." My mom replied

"I agree with Goddy. Secondly, Greta, I also think that you and Kierra should have a conversation as well." Amaiyah chimed in

"Karen and I will also need to have one as well." My mom added in

Amaiyah and I looked at each other before looking at her.

"Mom, are you sure that's what you want to do?" I asked

"Right. Because I remember the last time you said, "If I ever see Karen in the streets, her teeth won't be the only thing that needs to be corrected."" Amaiyah spoke

"That was so long ago. That was before we found out the truth obviously. Besides, I'm a changed person." My mom replied

"Okay, if you say so." Amaiyah and I replied

"Where's Layeah anyway?" my mom asked

"She's in her room watching TV. I went downstairs to talk on the phone so she wouldn't hear anything. But I'm going to explain everything to her in a second

"Listen, since it's still early. Why don't we just relax and then I'll start dinner." My mom suggested

"Sounds good. Catch y'all later. Crypt Keeper go in your room." I told Amaiyah as I walked out

*A FEW HOURS LATER*

Sandra's POV

For dinner, I decided to cook Bourbon Glazed Salmon, homemade mashed potatoes, and asparagus. While I was waiting for the girls to come downstairs, I placed the salmon in the oven, and then I started mashing the potatoes. Once I finished with those, the girls came downstairs, and I had Amber watch the asparagus, while I went to freshen up.

*20 minutes later*

"Has Layeah eaten already?" I asked coming back downstairs

"Yes, she has. She's in her room. I thought it would be better if the adults ate and conversed first before I bring Layeah in." Amber replied
