Truth Be Told

Chapter 14

Kierra's POV

After J, revealed to us the truth after all of these years, my mom and I were so upset with him. I believe my mom was more so hurt than mad. When she walked out, I tried catching up to her, but by the time I got outside, she was already gone. Seeing as how, J is the one who drove us here, I assume she took an Uber home. I'm doing the same. I'm about 2 minutes away, so I started gathering my purse and other things. Because we live in a gated community, I informed the driver that I needed to check in with security in order to get through the gate. The security guard scanned my key card and then opened the gate. I finally made it home, I thanked the driver and made my way inside.

"Mommy." I called out

I didn't get a response, so I decided to head upstairs and check her room. As I got closer, I could hear light sniffles, which lets me know she was crying. I walked in and she was sitting on the edge of the bed. I sat next to her

"Oh Ki, I didn't hear you come in. How'd you get home?" She asked me

"I took an Uber. Are you okay?" I asked her

"I am now. I came home and I just broke down. I kept replaying everything that J told us, and I just couldn't understand why he lied for so long. He had me, well us, angry at Amber and her mom for no reason at all. I had to get in prayer because the thoughts that I had in mind of what I wanted to do to him, were very ungodly." She explained

"I truly understand. It's really going to take some time for me to even think about forgiving him. I know you're a faithful Christian, so forgiving him will be easy for you. However, I haven't gotten that far yet." I replied

"Yes, I'm a faithful Christian, but we're humans too. I meant what I said that I didn't want to see him." She spoke

"We're going to have to explain to Reighna that she has an older sister." I spoke

"Oh, I'm sure she's going to love it. But I think right now before we bring her into this, I want to try to get to know Ja'Layeah if it's possible." She replied

Before I could speak, the doorbell rang

"Wonder who that could be?" I spoke

"Let's go see." My mom replied walking downstairs

We both headed downstairs to see who was at the door. We were very surprised to see who was on the other side of the door

"Judge Lynn." My mom spoke

"Just call me Lynn." She replied

"Come in please." I told her

"What can we do for you?" My mom asked

"I was hoping to catch you two before you left. I wanted to give you this. Amber wanted you two to have this and Veronica asked me to give you this." She replied handing them the photo album and Veronica's address.

"What is this?" Kierra asked reading the paper slip

"It's Veronica's address. Amber and mom wanted you two to have it. She was hoping that the both of you could over tonight and meet your granddaughter/niece. That book is full of pictures of the first 5 years of Ja'Layeah's life. She wanted you to have even if you didn't accept the invitation." Lynn explained

"Thank you so much, Lynn. Can we offer you anything?" My mom asked

"No, thank you. I'm actually on my way to meet a colleague of mine." Lynn replied

"We really appreciate it for you bringing this to us." Kierra replied

"No problem. I should get going." Lynn spoke

"It was nice seeing you." My mom spoke as she held the door open for Lynn to leave

"That was really sweet of Amber to let us have this." Kierra said

"Do you think, we should take her up on this offer?" My mom asked

"I think we should. Surprisingly, Amber isn't upset with us. If I were in her shoes, I don't think I'd even want to be breathing the same air as us." I explained

"You're right. Listen, I'm going to go take a nap. I'm drained. We can leave around 6:30." My mom spoke

"That gives us a few hours to relax. I think I'm going to do the same." I replied

We both headed back upstairs and went to our rooms. I changed into my tank top and boy shorts and got into bed. It wasn't long before I felt myself dozing off to sleep.

Karen's POV

I walked into my room and place the photo album on my bed, and I changed into something comfortable. I then walked into my bathroom and looked into the mirror. My eyes were so puffy from crying so I decided to do a quick face steam treatment. I washed my makeup off and then did the steam for about 10 minutes. Afterward, I grabbed the photo album to place it on my desk, when a piece of paper fell out. It was a number with Amber's name on it. I grabbed my phone and got into bed. I stared at the paper contemplating if I should call her or not. Instead of fighting with my mind and heart, I decided to pray on it.

"Lord, I'm here today with open hands and an open heart, ready to depend on you to help me through the day and all it will bring my way. Help me be like Nehemiah, help me come to you for guidance, strength, provision, and protection. I ask that You bestow Your wisdom upon me. I don't want to lean on my own knowledge anymore. I need to hear Your voice. No matter what, I trust you and ask You to show what is best in this situation. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen."

I sat there for a few minutes before I felt something wash over me. I knew it was God answering my prayer. So, I grabbed my phone and dialed.

"Hi, this is Amber." Amber spoke

For some reason I was stuck, and no words would come out

"Hello, is someone there?" She asked

I had to say something

"Hi, Amber. This is Ms. Williams." I finally spoke

I got bored and decided to give y'all a lil sumn sumn
