"You- You can- You can see me..."

His voice was smooth. Smoother than the cream cheese you'd spread on your toast every morning. But it sounded bewildered. As if he was invisible but only I could see him. His eyes still showed he was very surprised by me talking to him. Taking a step back, he looked around as if he was trying to find something or someone. Still in shock. His chest was moving at a fast pace as he inhaled and exhaled. I hesitantly put a hand over his shoulder. Telling him it's okay and that I see him. I didn't know what was wrong with him but I strived to find out.
Telling him to follow me, I ran into the kitchen after making sure the gates were locked, putting a kettle to heat some water to brew him a warm cup of tea. The day had become colder, somehow. I could feel my nose becoming colder by the second. While the kettle was heating the water, I took some cookie dough and spread it out on a tray to bake. Glancing at him every few seconds to make sure he's okay, I saw him looking around as he leaned on the centre counter of the kitchen. He sure was good looking. His hair, a perfect shade of chocolaty brown, fell over his dark eyes every few seconds, his face, a bit dirty from, I assumed, playing around near the forest, was handsome. There was a little splatter of blood on his arm.....even though he did somehow enter the bakery through a locked door, I really wanted to help him. I wanted to know what happened to him.
He seemed to be captivated by the little space as he looked around attentively. I chucked a bit, making him look at me with a breathtaking smile. Smiling back, I went to the small storage unit connected to the kitchen. I looked around till I found two small, foldable chairs for us to sit on. Carrying them to the kitchen, I placed them right in front of the oven. I told him to take a seat while I poured the now boiling water into two small cups. I took out the cookies from the oven and placed them on a plate, carrying them and the tea to the boy who was now warming his hands with the heat coming from the oven.
"It's getting colder by the day, isn't it?" It was me who spoke first. He nodded and replied, "it's really cold, especially in the evenings and early mornings". His voice, like before, was really smooth and melodious. The kind of voice you'd want to listen to for hours on end. I handed him his cup and waited for him to taste it. His eyes lit up as he sipped the tea, looking at me with a big smile plastered on his face, he spoke, "WAH! IT'S SO GOOD!!". I smiled as I sipped tea from my own cup. We drank the tea and munched on the cookies in silence. It was comfortable and both of us felt good in the warmth of the oven. It wasn't until a good ten minutes when he finally spoke. "I- I'm sorry for trespassing into your shop.......I thought no one could see me" He spoke in a low voice. There was sincerity and apology when he spoke. I couldn't understand what he was talking about, seeing the confusion on my face, he gestured for me to have patience and listen.
And so, for the next twenty minutes, he explained, in his low and melodious voice, what had happened that very day.
"I had a Hyung......Soobin. He and I were very close. We did everything together. He and I always stayed out late and had fun by ourselves when our parents would be asleep. We walked to school together, ate together and when it would be time to go home, we'd go somewhere fun and run around. Today was no different. We went to the forest to have fun after school. Apparently, going to the forest alone isn't the best idea of fun....." he chuckled for a bit. I was getting anxious as to know what had happened to him and Soobin. Sensing the anticipation in my eyes, he nodded. What he said next caught me off guard. "when we were in the forest, we saw a group of men.....they were exchanging some packets. Until this morning, I didn't know what drugs were....but now I do. It's something used to make medicines but a lot of it is harmful to you. They were smuggling that into the town to drug people and trick them into giving all their possessions to the men. Soobin Hyung told me to stay back but I didn't listen, I never do. I went up to them and Soobin Hyung tried to stop me. One of the guys hit me....and then him. On the arms, the legs, even our heads. Soobin Hyung fainted when one of the men was about to hit him again...assuming he was dead, the man turned to me and whacked my head with a metal baseball bat." He held my hand up and reached the back of his head. Feeling something wet and cold touch my fingers, I yanked my hand away from him. There was blood. Red and thick. On my fingertips from where I had touched his head.
"I'm.....I'm actually dead."
