It must have only been five minutes that the two had been zooming through the brightening sky, the sun sending golden rays over them as it rose.

George clung to Dream in fear and awe as they made their way back to Dream's cave. He was still a little mad about the fact that Dream had let him almost be killed, but he did technically come back for him.

Maybe the tall blonde wasn't all that he seemed.

Dream looked down at the brunette gripping tightly onto his neck fondly, he had grown to enjoy George's company over the past few days, and somehow the little brit who he had barely met had him wrapped around his little finger.

He cared for the man. Who said love couldn't be at first sight?

George stared up into his eyes in admiration, the two gazing at each other, before Dream looked away as he landed.

He set the exhausted brunette down carefully, but due to the lack of food and sleep, George's legs buckled beneath him, Dream catching him as he fell.

"S-sorry." George stammered, trying to get up again, but Dream just picked him up again and carried him down into the deep cave system.

"I can walk." He protested and the blonde laughed, "Yes, I can see. It's fine, I don't mind helping you out." He dismissed George's argument, the Brit crossing his arms in defeat and embarrassment.

Dream, much to George's relief, pretended not to notice the full on red blush across his face.

After Dream had lit a torch, and a couple minutes of what seemed to George mindless wandering, they reached their safe haven. Dream laid him down next to the dead fire, the cold of the room already sucking their body warmth away greedily.

George shivered, hugging himself tightly, grasping the torch Dream had given him to hold.

He watched in amazement as Dream concentrated for a second, before his wings grew smaller and smaller in size until they completely seemed to disappear back into his spine. The blonde breathed out the breath he had been holding, before opening his green eyes and smirking at the look on George's face.

"How- in what universe-" George sputtered wide-eyed, pointing a pale finger accusingly at the taller. Dream shrugged nonchalantly, squatting down to start up a fire in the place of the old one.

"What do you mean you don't know? What are you? How did you- you left me! Why?!" George spat out, frowning slightly as he finished, Dream sighed, turning to look at the shivering brunette.

"Look. I'll explain it all in a second, let me get a fire going and some food. I can see you practically shivering out of your clothes and I'm sure you're starving." Dream said, pointing a stick at George's smaller frame, who frowned.

"Fine." He agreed reluctantly, as he waited impatiently for Dream to finish up.

It was only once the fire was lit and George had a bowl of fresh, hot mushroom soup cupped in his hands, did Dream sit down to explain himself.

"This had better be good." George mumbled, and Dream raised an eyebrow.

"What? You're the one who left me to die! What was I supposed to think!? Ohhhh, Dweamy weamy isn't really going to leave me, it's just a prank he actually has FREAKIN WINGS and is coming back for me! Yay!" George mocked, throwing up one of his hands as he spoke.

Dream looked unimpressed, waiting as George finished speaking his mind. "You done?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. George scowled, nodding his head slightly.

"Right. So for one, I had to leave you. You have to understand that if I had given up there we would have both been dead, trust me. It was the only way to save both our hides." Dream said, staring earnestly up at the frowning brunette looking down at his soup.

"And yes, I have wings. Because, well, I don't really expect you to believe me, but you know that old king I told you about, the part god?" Dream asked, George nodded.

"I'm his son."

George's jaw dropped in astonishment, "WHAT? WAIT, YOU'RE PART GOD TOO?" He shouted in amazement and disbelief, too much had been going on for the poor brunette and he felt light headed.

"Careful George, don't drop your bowl." Dream said, reaching forward to take the half full dish from George who was still in shock processing it all.

"You are the prince? Wait," He furrowed his eyebrows as he put the pieces together one by one, "You're the rightful heir! And your wings were why you were able to kidnap me in the first place! And-"

Dream cut him off, "Saving you." He corrected and George rolled his eyes but nodded anyway.

"So you're part god then too?" He asked, studying the green eyed man in front of him in curiosity.

Dream squirmed a bit under his gaze, "Yeah. I didn't want you to know in case you would tell Karl somehow." He explained.

George tilted his head at him, "Do you have any other powers or things?"

Dream shook his head, "No, unfortunately. Just wings." He replied and George slumped in disappointment. "Aww, that would have been awesome."

"What? You don't think having wings is awesome enough?" Dream said defensively, and George hurried to correct himself before he caught the teasing look in the blonde's eyes.

He scoffed, pushing Dream's shoulder playfully. The taller laughed, brushing his arm off lightly.

The two held eye contact before they both looked away awkwardly, George cleared his throat to cover the suffocating silence up, "So what do we do now?"

Dream leaned forward, placing his elbows on his criss-crossed legs to rest his head in his hands. He stared into the fire burning strongly before he spoke, "I have no idea. But Karl needs to go, for sure. I'm just not quite sure how to do it now, but we need to strike sooner rather than later, before he gets all his shit together. And before Sapnap can fully recover, if he is even alive."

George nodded, copying Dream's stance as the two sat side by side behind the fire.

Dream nudged his shoulder lightly, "Any ideas?"

"Nope."
