It wasn't often that you were able to have a night to yourself with your busy work schedule. Being one of the best attorney's in the state, you were lucky when you were able to have five minutes to just breathe and ground yourself.

This was why when your closest friends asked you on a night on the town, you couldn't resist.

"No, that is not how it happened!" Emily hollered over the music that was thumping over the speakers in the club.

"It is! You got drunk off your ass and walked right through my screen door and broke it off of the hinges," JJ laughed. The rest of the group joined in on the laughter as the waiter came back with your next round of drinks.

"I don't remember that happening," Emily assured as she nursed her cosmo.

"We all do," you teased as you grabbed your margarita from the assortment of drinks that were just dropped off. "It was pretty funny, you have to admit."

"I think I have a video somewhere," Penelope added, as she rummaged through her purse to find her phone.

Emily shot her hand across the table, pressing her hand on top of Penelope's. "Uh, no. I'm good." She mouthed a thank you to Penelope as she settled back in her seat.

JJ cleared her throat. "Alright well anyway...enough about Emily's drunken adventures." JJ turned her attention to you with a smirk dancing on her lips. "I am more curious to know about what is going on with you and that Ryan guy from the– which department was it?"

"He's in the DEA," you mumbled, throwing back the rest of your margarita.

"Well by that reaction, I take that it's going swimmingly," Emily teased.

"We're not talking anymore," you admitted softly, running your finger around the rim of your glass.

"Aw, hun. It's okay. He seemed to be a bit of a fuddy duddy anyway," Penelope expressed as she turned her attention back to her pina colada. "I wasn't really a fan."

"Neither was I," you laughed. You held out your glass towards the bar and nodded your head. "Anyone need a refill?"

"Damn, Y/N. I don't think I've ever seen you drink that fast," Emily said with shock. She, too, threw back the rest of her drink and slammed the glass dramatically onto the counter. "Yes, please. Make it something strong."

"Do not do that," JJ pleaded. "I dealt with that mess last time at our apartment. Just pace yourself, Em."

Emily scoffed and rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest like a child. "Fine. I'll wait then."

"I'll be right back," you told the girls as you pushed away from the table and headed towards the bar.

The bar was full of people, with all of the seats taken. You found an opening between two people and snuck in between them to get the bartender's attention. You waved your hand in their direction and they nodded in acknowledgement.

You leaned over on the bar, rotating your credit card around between your fingers as you waited - mostly - patiently for the bartender to get to you. You glanced at the people sitting at the bar, your eyes locking to the man at the end of it with the raven hair. Something seemed familiar about him as you watched him tilt his head back, downing the rest of his beer. He flagged down the bartender and you watched as the bartender gave him some scotch, neat.
