14 years later

It was coming up on the 14th year anniversary of the fourth- and so far last -shinobi war, and many people found the spirit to celebrate. While it was considered a quiet day meant for mourning for years, the year Naruto was named the Godaime Hokage he chose to celebrate the period of peace it had brought along. That was the 8th year after the war and the festivities seem to grow grander by the year.

Some people still spent the special day mourning, though no one could blame them. Kakashi and Minato always made sure to visit Rin and- a newer addition -Obito's grave. Naruto was a large admirer of Obito, he had enjoyed stories of what he was like and his ambition to become hokage like himself. He considered it a great honor when Obito had practically sacrificed himself for Naruto, so despite a mass amount of jarring looks and confused murmurs he added Obito to the KIA stone and honored his sacrifice.

Menma will soon turn 15 and has become well known not only for being the Godaime's son, but also because of his impressive examples of strength. Sasuke, Naruto and a select few others are the only one's aware that his exceptional strength has awarded him a place in the ANBU. While Naruto of course worries, he makes sure Menma gets frequent mental health check-ups and has great confidence in his son's skill- especially since he's grown more accustomed to using the second-stage sharingan.

Menma reflects Sasuke's time-keeping abilities, seeing as he somehow finds time for everything. Despite his rigorous ANBU training and missions, he always finds time to spend time with his younger siblings. His little siblings are both 6, both with raucous red hair and two whisker marks on each cheek.

Boruto unlocked the first-stage sharingan nearly a year ago and tries to train it as much as possible, while a recent accident concerning Naruko's favorite video game has left Naruto to look into chakra transfers via birth. Sasuke heavily believes she may have at least a good amount of Kūrama's chakra in her system.

All three of them love to spend time with their Itachi Oji-chan, who has finally been allowed to travel as a Konoha shinobi unmonitored. While he was tailed by ANBU for a long time, many- even civilians who have limited knowledge on the matter -can see how much he cares for Konoha and therefore it's inhabitants. He is more than grateful for his second chance as Konoha nin, including the fact that he can now spend time bonding with his brother once again.

----------

Naruko laughed loudly as she chased a butterfly through the long-grassed field, jumping every once in a while to make sure she was still on the right track. Boruto watched from the park bench he sat on, smiling at his sister's easy distractablitly. He heard Menma sigh before leaving his spot beside her to recollect Naruko, reminding her of the task at hand before giving her supplies to work with.

"I don't see the point in that." Sasuke hummed in agreement to his brother's statement. "She'll only find a way to become distracted by that."

"Better than getting lost in that overgrown field." Boruto finally said, hopping from his spot on the bench to grab his own share of supplies. He stared at the small chibi fox button, sighing internally at the prospect of having to put so many in spots among the few tables.

"We both know her chakra would be easy to trace, she has a... seemingly large amount." Sasuke had seemingly lost the point in talking mid-sentence, something he seemed to do nearly everytime Naruko's kunoichi oddities were brought up. It was either this or fiery irritation, Boruto personally preferred the quiet. Then again it was a little hard to like either when it was always backed by sadness.

"Tou-chan, tou-chan, look at what I made!" Naruko suddenly exclaimed, breaking the near-mournful silence and bringing back the previous peaceful atmosphere. Sasuke chuckled as she brandished her creation, a table she had decorated completely by herself.

"It looks very good Naruko, papa will love it." Sasuke said, patting her head. She giggled loudly and went over to the next table, beginning a similar process.

Boruto quickly went around and placed the fox buttons around every table, throwing the now empty bag away and sitting on a comfortable patch of grass. He watched some clouds roll by lazily, listening as Naruko yelled about needing different decorative supplies.

"When is papa supposed to get here anyways?" Boruto asked, looking boredly at Sasuke.

"At two, so we have," he though for a moment. "Roughly fifteen minutes until he gets here."

"Okay then, thanks tou-chan." Sasuke 'hn'ed and returned his focus to making centerpieces, handing them off to Menma who sat them on one of the few tables. Itachi was tying off the last of the balloons.

Soon enough Naruko gleefully pointed out Naruto's silhouette in the distant, though he was steadily approaching. Everyone quickly put away the used suplies and sat down on one of the benches, each pair of eyes watching Naruto approach.

By time they could see his face he was already smiling widely, looking at each table in bewilderment. He walked up to Sasuke, wrapping his arms around him with question still very present in his eyes.

"We figured we'd celebrate your birthday outside this time, and well it kind of just became a mini party." Sasuke chuckled.

"I... love it." Naruto said, looking at his small family. He hugged Sasuke closer than sat down. "Do what are the plans for said 'mini party'."

--------

Naruto hummed contentedly as he laid in bed. This was one of the only times he celebrated his birthday with a party- especially one that had more than shadoe clones attending. He turned over and cuddled into Sasuke.

"Thank you for today, I had a really fun time." Sasuke pulled Naruto closer to himself and smiled into his hair.

"No problem love, it's the least I owe you with how much you've done for me in my life." He leaned back for a moment and kissed Naruto on the forehead.

"Love you." Naruto murdered.

Love you too, Naru."

Shitties ending ever I know, but I don't really care. I didn't feel like writing a whole lot but I also knew I couldn't push this back bc I just would not do it. So. Yeah. Happy ending.

But on a more positive note, I want to thank EliteShinobiKitsune so much for letting me take over this story. I know I only wrote 4 chapters on my own but I hope I wrote it in a way that pleased you!
