Chapter ten: Fate

(Lee's POV)

"Good morning, Lee."

I woke up to the sound of Carley's gorgeous voice.

"What? Cat got your tongue?" She asked jokingly.

I kissed Carley on the cheek.

"You're so beautiful. How in the world did I manage to get a stunning lady like yourself?" I said while resisting the urge to kiss her again.

"Well, you do have a way with words." She said while pulling me closer and kissing me.

"Alright, enough with that mushy shit." Kenny said while laughing.

"What's up, Kenny?" I asked.

"We still got a way to go. Ain't shit." Kenny sighed as he turned to look at Duck.

He didn't look too great.

"Hey, Lee?" I turned to find Clementine had been crying. Her eyes were red and her nose was stuffed up.

"What's wrong, sweet pea?"

"Duck.. He's sick.." She sounded like she would break down again at any moment now.

"Hey, hey.. Don't cry. His mom's a doctor, maybe she can help him." I said trying to reassure the child, but I knew what was really going to happen.

"Maybe it's like a cold." I said.

"It's not like a cold." Clementine said while trying not to cry.

I looked up, at nothing in particular. Just hoping for answers. Maybe a reason why this had to happen. Poor fucking kid. And Kenny.

"Hey, Lee. We got something ahead." Kenny said as the RV pulled to a stop.
