(Lee's POV)

"Hey, Lee! Wanna run out to the drugstore with me?" Asks Kenny. "Sure, I'd be glad to get away from this place for a while." I said. "Good, let's get a move on before night falls." Kenny said.

As we walked to the drugstore Kenny used to ask me a variety of questions about how do I feel about leaving the Motor Inn, as always. I always answered the same way each time, "The Motor Inn is not safe, we should just leave. I think finding a boat and getting off the mainland would be our best shot at survival." And Kenny would agree with me.

But this time, Kenny did not ask any questions about that. Maybe he was focused on the task at hand? Getting to the drugstore. Or maybe he wasn't in the mood today for talking?

Finally, the awkward silence broke.

"Hey, Lee. You do realize that everyone at the Motor Inn knows you and Carley have a thing going on, right?" Kenny asked.

I stopped walking and looked Kenny dead in the face.

"What are you talking about? Carley and I don't have a thing. We're just good friends." I said as my heart started to beat faster.

"Yeah, keep telling yourself that, Lee." Kenny remarked.

"But-"

"But nothing." Kenny said as he cut me off.

"If you have the need to talk about shit like this, I'm here for you, alright?" Kenny said.

"Wait, what shit?" I asked.

"You know, girl problems?" Kenny remarked.

I stayed silent.

"I bet you're thinking about how if you confessed your feelings for her she would reject you. Why? Because of your past?" Kenny asked.

I remembered I told Kenny a few months back about my past. "Yeah, I don't think any woman would be bothered to date a man who murdered before." I said.

"Really, Lee? Look around us. Everything has gone to shit, I mean, look at what this mess has got us doing. You think what you did before this matters? Shit, I've seen the looks you two have been giving each other. If you think it's gonna work out, then go for it. I'd support you through every step of the way."

I was shocked to hear what Kenny just said. "Thanks, man. I don't know what to say." I said.

"Don't say anything, man. You're my brother. You rescued Duck from those monsters, stood up to Larry at the drugstore, and helped me out in the meat locker. No need to thank me, thank you for always being there for me. You're my family, Lee." Kenny said.

I put my hand on Kenny's shoulder and shook my head. We continued walking onward to the drugstore.

(Author's note: I think I may have added a little too much bromance in this chapter and not enough Carlee romance stuff.)
